[D565]Dolls For Little Girls
by Victor Epand, Vic
When people hear the word "doll", they probably think of little girls. That does not come as a surprise since a majority of dolls on the market these days are made for just females. The obsolete myth which suggests that doll play encourages femininity is still pervasive, so the vast majority of dolls are designed in particular for girls. Then again, no one ever said that only girls can play with dolls. There is without doubt no harm in letting little boys have fun playing with dolls.

Mattel may have made Barbie dolls, but they also made Ken dolls. It would be absolutely adorable to watch brother and sister play with dolls together. This can go either way; sister can be Barbie and brother can be Ken or vice versa. Not only will they have fun and bond, but they will also learn that there is nothing wrong with being different.

As you well know, Barbie and Ken are not the only popular dolls out there. Cabbage Patch Kids are made for both boys and girls. Every adorable "Kid" is one of a kind. Cabbage Patch Kids are ready to be adopted by your child and become part of a loving home. They are each about 16" tall and are very soft and loveable. Each doll comes with its own special name, adoption papers and birth certificate. Kids are able to feel like parents with their very own Cabbage Patch Kid.

A number of parents wonder why they should even bother to buy a doll for their boys. After all, they are a lot fonder of playing with their blocks, trucks, and play figures. The truth is doll play encourages children to portray parenting behavior. This may also translate into better communication and a higher degree of responsibility and intimacy in a little boy's relationships as an adult.

If parents are still concerned about whether or not they should let their young boy play with dolls, then an action figure would do just fine. Action figures are somewhat like dolls. The only differences are they don't cry and there is no need to hold them like you would a baby. But if you want a boy to grow up to be a kind husband and father, give him a baby doll and condition him to feel and act compassionately and empathetically toward that doll. Teach him how to cook and do laundry. Put a play kitchen in his room. Encourage the playing of "Mommy and Daddy" or "House".

When he grows up he won't automatically be gay.
