[T1044]To Save Your Relationship
by Joan Masterson, Joa
Many relationships are rushed into for different reasons. This could be due to hot chemistry between people or because they find that they are emotionally compatible. Some may think that they were meant for each other but in reality the relationship may be doomed to failure because of many differences that may surface later. If a few months down the line your relationship is floundering for a variety of issues then all is not lost. Following some sensible tips to save your relationship and some sound advice can help you build a lasting more solid relationship no matter what the foundations were.

If your relationship experiences rocky roads and conflicts then understanding the causes and what can be done to rescue them, means effectively communicating between the two partners. It is important that one of you take the initiative to begin the process of reconciliation, and this will also show willingness to forgive and repair the damage. Whether you are a man or woman; or are in a same sex relationship is irrelevant. The tips to save relationships which are mentioned below will work for any relationship.

Firstly it is vital that you stay calm and suppress your feelings of panic when working on saving your relationship otherwise your partner may feel emotionally stifled. It is important to never beg for the return of your partner no matter how desperate you may be feeling. You can show the depth of your passion and feelings though, and openly show that you are prepared to discuss the reasons why you want to save the relationship. During strife in a relationship an important factor is to allow your partner to have space to sort out their own feelings as well. This may also mean letting him/her visit family or friends or get away for a while on their own so that they can also sort out their own feelings.

Rekindle the old spark of passion and sharing that you had when you first met. Surprise your partner with something special, a gift, a romantic night out, or what ever you can remember that they really enjoyed when you first met. Reminisce about happy memories together and give reasons why you are meant for each other. Compliment your partner on their appearance and depth of personality or their skills and role they play in your relationship. Learn about your partners hobbies, likes and dislikes as well.

One of the very important tips to save your relationship is learning how to solve conflicts and problems without becoming defensive and blameful of your partner. It cannot be stressed enough just how important communication is in a relationship. Complaining continuously may ruin the relationship so rather seek out pleasing attributes in your relationship rather than things that you want to criticize.

Try not to be overly possessive or jealous of your partner, and when there is anger try to be the one that remains the calming aspect by remaining emotionally controlled. It is also important to think before you say things in anger that cannot be retracted later. In any relationships there is going to be obstacles and regular ups and downs that need to be resolved and if you love one another enough there are always ways around any problems.

Anyone who has been in a relationship has wondered at some time or another if they were doing the right thing be either staying in it or by leaving it. There are so many different factors today that can hinder a good relationship, and it is difficult to balance everything that needs to be balanced to make them work. There are five things that you need to carefully consider in order to truly save the relationship you are in.

The first thing you have to do is decide if the relationship you are in is worth saving. The truth is that most relationships can be saved with hard work and strong commitment, but it will never work and will never be enough if both people are not going to put forth the effort that is needed. Instead of having a healthy and nurturing relationship these days, many couples stay together for the sake of the children involved or because it is convenient to do so. A relationship that is worth saving has to be one that is more than just there for the children or for convenience.

Once you have both decided that the relationship is worth saving, the next step is to identify the core problems that are plaguing the relationship. Be careful here that you identify the root problems and NOT the symptoms and effects of those problems. One of the biggest problems for people is that they mistake the symptoms of problems for the problem itself. A good example of this is when one person in the relationship has an affair. Be careful the affair itself is a symptom, not the problem. There is usually a deeper problem that has caused one party to have an affair, such as they feel neglected by the other partner. A lack of intimacy can lead to one partner straying. Although some people will not engage in having an affair because of guilt or a fear of causing the other partner pain, many people will stray because of the lack of intimacy.

The third part of saving your relationship is to communicate. Open, honest, and non attacking communication is not nice to have it is totally critical. Without communication there can be no success in the relationship. Even though communication is important, when it comes to it, talk is cheap. You both must create an action plan for what you will be fixing, and you need to follow through with what you two decide or it will be a lost cause.

The final step in saving your relationship is to realize that your work will never be done. It is a daily effort, and there will be good days and bad days, so you both must be strong, committed, understanding, and patient.
