[T678]The Power Of Wind
by Aydan Corkern, Ayd
Do you know what strong winds can do? It can tear a tree right out of the ground and throw it through someone's house. It can rip the top of your roof in half or it can rip off the whole thing. It can come from hurricanes, tornadoes, bad storms, and many other ways. It can throw debris everywhere, and it can break open your doors. If the wind is high enough it can knock your car right off the road. When the wind is high and it is blowing hard it can knock off a stoplight right off the line. Some strong winds can move a person and even pick someone right off their feet.

This can last from minutes or even an hour and travel over miles. Sometimes these winds can get as high as the wind from a hurricane or a twister. It can reach speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour and can be referred to as cross winds. Wind can come out of the blue. Most of the time they come over water and it can be the aftermath of another storm. If you have a tree in your yard and it is weak, the wind can break pieces off it and drop them on your house, causing damage to one side or one big part of your roof. If you are inside your home, then you can get hurt in the process. You can have so much damage that it will cost you a lot of money. Most standard insurance policies do not cover something like this so you have to read the coverage really well. If it does not cover this, then get additional coverage and make sure you are covered.

Wind can be unpredictable, and you never know what is going to happen or how it's going to happen until it does damage to your town. If you live on a farm it can tear up your barns and ruin your crops. Never go into a barn when there is a big wind because there can be sharp things that can kill you or can cut you really bad. It is not safe in a barn at all! Never work on something high up when there is a very strong wind outside because you can get knocked off your ladder, your roof, or right off your machine that you work in. Watch the weather channel to see if your area is going to have any high wind.

If you have land in Colorado or are planning to buy land for sale, you may want to consider installing a small wind turbine to supply your electricity needs. Wind power is rapidly becoming a popular choice of power for rural area homes. Take time to discover all you can about the wind turbine systems, their capabilities, costs, and savings they can yield to help determine if one is right for you.

When you are deciding to buy a wind turbine system for your Colorado land you should consider the cost of the system and the recurrent winds in your area. If done right and in the proper location these systems can save the consumer a lot of money over time. Some have even narrowed their electricity bill to only $100 per year or up to 90% even though everything there runs on electricity!

A small wind turbine is the best bet for rural Colorado land that's just a few acres in size. The larger wind turbines aren't always appreciated by neighbors and probably aren't necessary to power your electricity. A small wind turbine on rural Colorado land should be at least 5-15 kilowatts in size in order to make a dent in utility bills. A typical home uses less than 10,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. A vacation or recreation property on Colorado land for sale today will use even less; so a small wind turbine should more than do the job.

When buying a wind turbine, customers can expect to pay about $40,000 to have the system installed. It will take time to start seeing the benefits of a small wind turbine, but most people start seeing the real savings in less than ten years. If you're going to buy Colorado land for sale and you want to use wind power, buy the wind turbine at the same time you buy the property. That way, you can immediately start seeing the benefits. Over the long term, using a home wind turbine can provide you and your family with a significant savings. But the biggest benefits and return may not happen for more than 20 years after the initial installation.

There are tax credits and rebates available for wind turbines that you put on Colorado land for sale. The Small Wind Incentive Pilot Program (SWIPP) offer rebates up to $5,000 and the Highline Electric Association, Southeat Colorado Power Association, the Town of Este and the Sangre De Cristo Electric Association, Inc, have joined together with the Colorado Governor's Energy Office to reduce the costs of the wind turbines and the cost for installation on Colorado land. Buyers of Colorado land for sale are also eligible to receive credit for excess energy that their home wind turbine systems produces.

Generally a home uses less than 10,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. A recreational or vacation property on Colorado land for sale will use even less; so a small wind turbine should be more than adequate. Larger wind turbines aren't always highly regarded by neighbors, making a smaller turbine with at least 5-15 kilowatts in size a better choice, still able to handle the electricity load.
