[T642]The Office Stress Relief
by Joe Steven, Joe

Stress relief is the process by which various techniques are used to help person combat situations which are highly stressful. In this case, stress refers to the physiological response that a person will give to any outside source which triggers the "fight or flight" response. Hans Selye and Walter Cannon are often given credit for conducting some of the first studies on stress. They spent a great deal of time studying various animals, and they studied the responses that the animals gave to various external stimuli, and this includes cold, heat, or surgical procedures. The purpose of doing this was to eventually figure out the factor of stress within humans.

A number of studies over the years have shown that stress is caused by various stressors that can be measured. While a moderate amount of stress is good for humans, too much stress can lead to a variety of health problems, some of which are very serious. There are a large number of ways in which a person can get stress relief. Many of these involve things such as exercising, techniques that bring relaxation, and even meditation. Time management is closely related to stress management, and over the years, a number of techniques have been used to help people cope with stress.

One interesting thing that I should mention is that stress can be measured. One of the scales that is used to do this is the Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale. Stress can be measured based on the amount of blood pressure that is measured, and the skin temperature can also be used to measure the amount of stress that a person is under. Stress has become a prominent issue in the fast paced world that we live in today. While people, particularly in industrialized nations, enjoy a higher standard of living, they are also under much more stress as compared to their ancestors.

Pressure to perform well on the job or in school can also lead to large amounts of stress. While many expects believe that external factors play a significant role in the level of stress a person experiences, the way that the person perceives the external stimuli has also been found to be of great importance. If a person still seems to be under stress have trying a variety of therapies, this may be a sign that they are suffering perhaps from depression.Stess can be relieved or eliminated if you know how. Everyone can learn how to deal with stress effectively.

One of the best stress relievers would be a vacation of your choosing. No, not one you are coerced into by relatives or friends but something you enjoy. Vacation is the one thing that brings the most pleasure to most people. Unfortunately, not everyone can take a vacation when they need to nor can they take a vacation of their choosing when they do have the time. So, I'll give you some quick tips on how to decompress.

Since you did not acquire all your stress at one time, don't attempt to rid yourself of all for it in one quick setting. It takes time to learn new habits and changes, but gradually you will find relief for the stress.

There are many different ways to relive stress.

Puzzles can challenge your skills and provide an effective relief of stress by forcing your mind to focus on things other than what are causing stress. Puzzles come in many new formats to challenge your skills.

Gardening is good, as is splitting/stacking firewood. Berry-picking is also good, since it may involve cutting your way through the woods and briars, picking berries, and enjoying the wildlife.

Nature is a great way to relieve stress and start viewing life with thanks . It's amazing the change as you get out and appreciate the natural beauty all around. If you don't have the ability to get to the beach or the mountains, stop and take a look at what you do have. One day I was standing in what appeared to be a weed patch. As I examined the weeds more closely I was amazed at the beauty of the tiniest buds on them. Even a weed, at close distance is a marvel.

Could you make an effort to add only one simple pleasure to your day?

I started a hobby by buying small cacti at the 99 cent store and replanting in a bigger pot. One, it is inexpensive. Two, you really have to be a poor gardener to not make a cactus grow. I am not kidding. I have had no luck with tomatoes or any vegetable but throw a 99 cent cactus into a new pot and watch it grow. Kind of makes you feel good. Every time I look out my kitchen window I see the little plants I rescued and provided a good home for.

Try some natural stress relief through natural stress reducing supplements. They are frequently as good or better than big drug company prescription drugs.

Music can alleviate a lot of stress. It can calm the children, providing you don't overdose them with sugar and you are the person repsponsible for the selection of the music! Try singing or dancing with the kids, or your spouse for that matter.

You can pick up an instrument on eBay relatively cheaply and experiment. Get something fun and relaxing. I bought a Native American flute that is super easy to play and it sounds very relaxing not to mention it helps my breathing; multiple good benefits.

Try reading and meditating on some Psalms out of the Bible. The Bible says we can make melody in our hearts and laughter is the best medicine. Try speaking peaceful words of encouragement to yourself. Yes, really, speak blessing over yourself.

Stress can be releived by exercise. It provides a way for the body to get rid of all the tension and frustration. Exercise can heal the mind as it shapes your body.

With exercise, you can get a boost of self-confidence that goes with knowing that you're the best that you can be.

Laughter is the best medicine. Physiologically the body improves with a state of happiness. Laughter helps you to relax and reduce high levels of anxiety. So keep laughing for stress relief. Really, good honest, clean humor, which admittedly is hard to find, is the best.

Try shooting. Photography, that is! You'll be amazed at the shots you can catch and if you invest in some software to crop and fix the photos, you'll become the family pro. The nice thing about digital cameras is you only have to print what you want. Very relaxing and a boost of self confidence.

Whatever you eventually choose as your preferred stress relief tip, remember to always find time to do it. Don't get so busy you don't take time for yourself.
