[T741]The Song For Good
by John Geiger, Joh
Have you noticed lately that the amount of junk mail has actually decreased in your mailbox? Mine has. It took a while to realize it, and credit card offers not withstanding, the amount of other unsolicited mail has dramatically increased in the past year or two. Chalk that up to the cost of stamps and the economic advantage of sending email which has unfortunately more than made up for it. With the cost of computers and high speed connections going down, I suppose it was inevitable, but is anyone actually answering the solicitations for amorous relationships, anatomy modifications, and get rich quick schemes? If so I wish they would stop, so it all dries up sooner rather than later. The improper use of e-mail is giving what otherwise would be a very elegant and cost effective communication and advertising medium a bad wrap.

As a small business owner, here are some things you can do to stay on the good side of all of us, while getting a lot more bang for your marketing buck. The CAN-SPAM Act (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act) provides some clear, logical, and even courteous guidelines (laws) on the sending of commercial e-mail.

1.You must use accurate “To" and “From" fields as well as routing, domain and e-mail addresses. No pseudo-names, or forwarding through another server to hide your identity.
2.The subject line can not mislead the recipient about the content of your message
3.You must give your recipients an opt-out method via electronic means (i.e. right now and up to 30 days from now) such as cancellation link, return e-mail address etc. and you must honor those requests within 10 days.
4.All commercial e-mail must include a valid postal address and be clearly identified as commercial or advertisement.

Additional provisions: No “harvesting" of email addresses from websites, web services, “dictionary attack" or other automated means of generating addresses. Use addresses that have been offered with a clear understanding of your intended usage, then stick to it and provide both meaningful content and a way for your recipients to cancel easily and immediately.

As for limiting what we ourselves receive, a simple call or visit to your ISP website can update you on the various tools they offer to filter unsolicited mail. Commercial software offered by Norton, McAfee and others can provide additional protection as well. Guard your e-mail address. Use a “free" email address such as Hotmail or Yahoo when surfing and save your business e-mail for business relationships, and those you know and trust.

If you are a small business, the proper use of e-mail can be financially very rewarding. It can provide highly relevant and timely information to a targeted and even eager audience. It’s a shame that as in other parts of life there are those that seem to delight in turning a good thing bad. If you are tempted to click on that unsolicited mail promising overnight riches or romance, use the forward key instead, and send it directly to the FTC compliance watchdogs at spam@uce.gov. They exist to enforce these laws and if your inbox is like mine, it looks like they could use a little help. You can also learn more about this law at www.ftc.org.

Anaerobic exercise is different from aerobic because it is usually shorter in time span and greater in intensity. The body depletes faster and creates muscle more actively with anaerobics. Many sports are considered anaerobic exercises: soccer, skiing, weight lifting, basketball, and football. Another example is running or sprinting. The body will more likely experience soreness at the conclusion of anaerobic exercise.

The mission while exercising aerobically is to get to your target heart rate and remain at this level for the whole period you are exercising that group of muscles. This exercises the heart more effectively and makes the body expend more calories. The aerobic curve is something some people will often hit. This is when you start working out and increase your intensity to the max then decrease gradually. It is more effective to maintain that constant level as your heart rate is increased. The lungs and heart endure longer and work more efficiently when they are trained. People who do aerobic exercise on a routine occasion will have to exercise harder to reach their target heart rate as their endurance is increased. People that are just beginning will achieve their target heart rate fast until their body gets used to the
workload.

Aerobic exercise has so many advantages that it is weird to picture that we often fail to take the time to do it for ourselves. It controls and decreases body fat, raises our sum endurance, gives us extra energy, helps our resistance to exhaustion, tones our muscles, and increases our lean body mass. It also benefits us mentally by lifting mood, lowering anxiety, reducing depression, lowering tension, and having us sleep better at night. Who can't benefit a little from all that? These are perks that people could all use.

Aerobic exercise is helpful to you by conditioning the lungs to be more effective by raising amounts of oxygen to the cells and the heart by enabling it to use that oxygen more effectively. The word aerobic means with oxygen, or with air. It is a session that is lower in intensity and longer in duration. 15 to 30 minutes is usually the amount of time the large muscle group should be repetitious worked when an athlete does aerobic exercises. A heart rate of about sixty to eighty percent is the goal to maintain. Some aerobic activities are: light running, cycling, walking, or treading water. These sessions should be able to be done without someone having to gasp for breath. If you cannot carry on a short conversation while exercising, you possibly are turning it up a level by exercising
anaerobically.

During an aerobic exercise work out, the body transports more blood and oxygen to the muscles. Stopping all of a sudden in the middle of an aerobic activity is not a wise move. Cramps and light headedness can result from this. After a relatively intense work out, a cooling off session is always a good idea. Moving in place for a little while is a good idea if anyone gets too worn out during a work out. Athletes who want all the pros of aerobic exercise and do not know where to begin may begin with an aerobics class. Both higher and lower intensity exercises are available in an aerobics class. The class instructor should show class members how to perform these moves either way. The amount of intensity is how high you bring your arms and legs up during the work out activity. Athletes should do the level of intensity pertaining to their level of fitness and the frequency of their aerobic
sessions.

This type exercise is no doubt obligatory for cardiovascular fitness even though it may be a little difficult at first. It is a continuous process and takes steady exercise sessions to have a fit body. Three times weekly is about how often a person should work out if they are already in good aerobic shape. People who are trying to lose weight and elevate their level of fitness should work out four to five times a week.
