[T752]The Stoneleigh Hotel & Spa
by Kelly Renaul, Kel
A hotel spa is somewhat of a new type of amenity that has visitors and travelers clamoring for the best in the industry. Guests of hotels as well as the general public are often invited to take advantage of the fine services that these places offer. While the general public often enjoys fabulous services at great prices, hotel guests often enjoy pretty nice discounts as part of the perk package that goes along with being a guest. In the last twenty years the popularity of full service spas has skyrocketed, and it wasnt long ago that a hotel was just that, and a spa was just that. The experience that people enjoy at each type of place has merged into one beautiful luxurious time.

The story begins back in the 1980s, when guests could enjoy lots of things right inside the place they were staying at on their business trips. There were restaurants, lounges, swimming pools, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and entertainment that varied greatly from one place to another. Separately, but usually nearby, were the health spas that were places for the public to unwind, relax, and revive their spirits, minds, and their bodies. It wasnt long before those places, searching for a way to increase business, took it upon themselves to contact hotel operators about using a space inside of the nearby grand hotels to accommodate guests and drive in more business.

During the late part of that decade, when huge hotel chains started noticing a gap in the market, they also began to bridge that gap between overnight accommodations and relaxing spa services. They assumed that if they could provide facilities, treatments, and activities to guests, this would open up the market to both types of industries. Those who were looking for professional treatments would stay at the hotel; those who needed lodging would patronize the spas. It seemed to be a win win situation for all who were involved.

The large and expensive investments began, and the leisure facilities started popping up inside of these exclusive hotels. There were many benefits that places saw thanks to adding the spas, and one of them was beauty. An elegant, classy, relaxing part of the hotel was added as the spa opened its doors, and it wasnt long before these places became not only popular with many of the guests that would come and stay, but also for the general local public as well. Everybody loves a beautiful hotel, and often people would spend the day at them if they werent staying overnight. The lounges and restaurants as well as the gift shops inside experienced an increase in business, and this added business of the hotel spa is a critical part of the most popular places to stay even today.
