Acne is a part and parcel of growing up. Ninety per cent of teenagers develop acne. The fortunate ones only get a few isolated outbreaks and then grow out of it. For some unfortunate souls, there are serious outbreaks of acne that do not cease even well past puberty. Acne occurs as a result of all the chemical and physical changes that the body undergoes during puberty, but it does not have to be something that you have to live with on a daily basis. These easy tips for teenage acne treatment will ensure that you spend the most interesting times of your life with beautiful, smooth skin.
Cleanliness. Cleanliness is the single most important defense in your fight against acne. Dirt clogs the pores of the skin and leads to acne and blackheads. It takes only a minute to wash your face with soap and water. We know that you have a busy schedule but this little precaution will really serve you in good stead in the fight against acne. Another little point, pick a good, neutral, face soap that is not harsh on your skin. Look for the word 'non-comedogenic' on the label.
Water. One of the best cures for acne is plenty of water. Water keeps the skin hydrated yet oil free and helps to flush out toxins from your body. Drink at least eight to twelve glasses of water a day. Next time you feel like reaching for a tall glass of soda, substitute it with water instead. It is healthier, sugar free, and good for acne.
Hands off. Picking at pimples and pustules is not only a disgusting habit, but also results in the formation of scar tissue and increases the incidence of acne. So keep your hands off any pimples that do develop. Do not pick or pop zits. I know it takes some effort but leave them alone and they will dry and fade away naturally. Fingering them will only aggravate the problem.
Exercise. Exercise also plays an important role in the fight against acne. Proper exercise not only helps to control the effects of the raging hormones that are released during puberty, but also makes the body expel toxins in the form of sweat. One of the best forms of exercise for acne treatment is Yoga. Yoga involves a lot of inverted postures that help blood rush to the face. This helps to nourish skin and stimulates removal of toxins.
Being a teenager is never easy, and for most guys knowing the ins and outs of the fashion world may seem like a puzzle that you aren't capable of solving. Knowing what to wear can be troublesome for guys, especially since your wardrobe may be the last priority on your list. However, you don't have to give up and surrender to the jeans and white tee-shirt look. There are a number of styles that look great on teen guys and will help bring out your inner characteristics and traits.
The first rule of fashion for teen guys is that you must be comfortable. Teenagers often are exposed to uncomfortable situations. You are going through changes, your life is filled with many activities, and let's face it- you are very busy. If your fashion isn't comfortable, you won't be happy. There is great pressure to wear fashion that is 'name brand' only. However, if you find that wearing those brand names isn't really what you want to wear, then don't do it. Peer pressure is a very strong force, but you should realize that your fashion is an expression of who you are.
If you don't feel that you are a 'name brand' then don't wear it. Ask yourself, what clothes make you happy, or do you feel the most comfortable in. Also, when choosing your fashion wardrobe, it is important to look at your personality and activities. Do you play sports? Do you skate? Do you like rock, punk, or Goth? Again, it may seem that the answer to these questions will define your choice of fashion, but they don't have to. You can choose to be who you want to be. Defining your fashion style is an important aspect of defining who you are. That is what being a teenager is all about. You are exploring limits, testing boundaries, and discovering who you are and how you will express that to the world. That expression will first and foremost be displayed in your choice of fashion.
Once you begin to look at what styles best compliment your personality, taste, and most importantly- comfort level; it is time to begin designing your wardrobe. You should feel free to check out the wardrobes of those you admire. Maybe it is a rock singer, musician, skater, or actor. However, don't feel that you have to be a carbon copy of your favorite icon, but do feel free to draw from their wardrobe while creating your own style.
If there is a brand that you like but can't afford, don't feel to left out. There are a number of ways to purchase high-end clothing at discount prices. You can look for name brands in used or consignment shops, or you can shop online. There are numerous deals for name brand clothing available on the Internet that will save you lots of money, while no one will ever know that you saved.
It's also important to realize that your health is a very important aspect of your fashion wardrobe. Drinking, smoking, and doing drugs are a sure way to ruin any fashion statement. Though teens are often presented with these opportunities, you need to stand your ground. Teens who have a goal, purpose, and plan for their life statistically do better then their peers when it comes to resisting drugs, alcohol, and smoking. Find out what your hobbies are, what you love to do, what you are passionate about and pursue those goals with everything you have. Make sure that you eat right, exercise, and get plenty of sleep each night. Say no to drugs, alcohol, and smoking- they will ruin any fashion statement that you are trying to make.
If you feel comfortable with your clothes, but don't like your hairstyle, then schedule an appointment with a hair stylist. During a consultation, a stylist will determine the natural pattern of your hair growth, hair texture, and can help you find the style that works best for you. Trying to achieve a hair style of sleek straight locks when your hair is naturally curly will only lead to frustration and many hours wasted in front of the mirror.
Consult with a stylist to find the look that best fits your hair's texture and natural hair growth. Remember, fashion doesn't have to be a mystery to solve. Use these tips and stay healthy, strong, and committed to your talents and hobbies. Being true to yourself is the best fashion statement you could ever make.
