Breaking up with a long time partner sure is a very delicate situation to deal with as it affects you a lot mentally. You may try hard to hide your feelings but those who are close to you know very well that you are not fine. The problem is to learn to deal with it, which may not be something very easy to do as breaking up with someone that you spent intimate moments with can be very hard to digest.

First off, you will need to start flirting again with them. No matter how silly that sounds but there is no way else to get in back their heart. Depending on the reason that you broke up with your partner, try the best way possible to say sorry for whatever happened. I know it may not be easy to say sorry in some instance but in a moment like this you better put your ego aside and have your love as a priority.
Then you will have to try whatever you can to make your ex partner remember those sweet moments your spent together. Start small, like with a simple phone call. You may feel like you're giving her too much room to 'escape,' but giving her that space is vastly beneficial to your efforts.
3) After getting your ex back, you have to make sure you don't do the same idiot things to drive her away again. Relaxing on your hard self-work when you get what you want is a great way to lose what you got. And don't just think "oh, I did it once, I can get her back again." Usually after two breakups with the same person, for the same reasons, it's really difficult to coax a girl into giving it yet another try.
These are the main things to keep in mind when you're working towards getting your ex back, but of course as I said earlier your attitude is perhaps the most important! Pessimism will only hold you back and keep you from getting the motivation to succeed in your efforts to win back your ex girlfriend. Stay strong and positive, and things'll be a lot easier and a lot more likely to work out well in the end!
