[T1027]To Make Money Blogging
by Robert Williams, Rob
It wasn't that long ago most people had never heard of a blog much less knew what a blog is for. Today it seems nearly everyone is expressing themselves with this type of online journal. Subsequently, advertisers have jumped in and created ways for bloggers to earn an income just from blogging. There are several ways you can make money from a free blog and here are some just to mention a few.

The Google Adsense program is always a favorite as they automatically match related ads to the content of your blog. Just submit an easy application at www.google.com/adsense. Once you are approved, you just add some html code and small text ads will appear on your blog. When a reader clicks on a Google ad, you earn a portion of the fee paid by the advertiser. The amounts vary and clicking on the ads yourself is strictly prohibited. Google also offers a free blog www.blogger.com and so does www.wordpress.com to help get you started.

Affiliate marketing is another great way to make money by blogging. Most companies have an affiliate program, where they pay people to advertise their product online. In most cases, you will be paid a percentage of the sale of an item. Most affiliate programs have many different ad types that you can choose ranging from full-color graphic ads to simple text ads. You can find affiliate opportunities through Linkshare www.linkshare.com and Commission Junction www.cj.com. Visit www.amazon.com as well.

Pay per post is somewhat controversial, but still a way to make money blogging. When you are being paid to post, you are actually paid to write about a certain product. In a nutshell, you can register your blog with a company and they will give you a list of things you can choose to blog about. Once you have completed your post, you send a link back to the company and if they accept your post, you will be paid. There may be certain guidelines to be approved, such as the amount of time your blog has been online, how many times you have posted in the last 90 days, and if it is indexed in search engines. Visit
www.payperpost.com for more details.

The most important thing to remember is to keep your target market in mind. If your blog is targeted to scrapbooking enthusiasts, you will want to keep your ads focused to things that would appeal to them. Do not try to create a blog that appeals to the masses. If you have several different target markets in mind, it will be easier and more profitable to create several different blogs that cater to individual markets.

Before we get to the specific details it's necessary to decide how you will best keep your ideas when they appear to you. You might have 1,000 good ideas, but none of them will do you any good if you don't have a way to record them. You never want to lose a good idea or you will always be leaving money on the table - money that should be in your bank account.

The best thing to do to make sure you don't lose a good idea is to take a notebook everywhere you go. You should use your notebook to record each idea that comes to you. In the beginning, there's no need to evaluate every idea before you write it down. That part of the process will come later.

You want to create a blog that will be read by as many people as possible. It should be written for people who are in touch with what is happening now. Those people generally will crave information that's up to date and that information will keep them coming back to the site for more and more - one of the very important keys to having a successful blog.

People are interested in thousands of different topics, so choosing a topic is difficult. Frankly, there are just too many options out there. You will need to take a hard look at what you enjoy yourself, and whether there are a lot of other people that enjoy the same topic. If your maximum audience is only 20 people, it's going to be tough to make a living from your blog.

Giving the information readers are curious about, you will be able to make money blogging. Also, think ahead and ask what will people be searching on the Internet for next week, next month, and next year. Hitting trends can be remarkably effective for blogs, especially if they already cover topics similar to the trendy ones.

As you go through the process of creating blog content, you will always want to continue doing your research. This will ensure that you don't get out of touch with what's going on in your industry. Losing touch can make you lose credibility - something you never want to happen if you want to have a blog that makes good money.

The next process to work on towards making money blogging is to make a list in your journal for your dreams. You could write down: what would be my outrageous topic, my most loved topic, most creative topic, and most interesting person to write about? You will weigh the strengths and weaknesses of each of these ideas and will choose the one that seems to work best for you and your goals.

By this time your notebook should be full of ideas and it's probably time to choose the one that's best for you. I would take a look at a lot of different factors before I made a decision here.

The first thing I would look at is the current competition. If no one is writing about a topic, you should ask yourself why. I personally would never start a blog in an industry that wasn't already being covered. If there is money there, someone should already be covering it.

On the other side of the coin, you don't want an overly saturated industry. If there are too many blogs already established in your industry, it's probably time to take a look at some other options.

Of course there are many more questions you could and should ask yourself regarding the process of how to make money blogging. Take the time to choose a good topic, and then put your little heart and soul into it.
