[T706]The Right To Dream
by Annalaura Brown, Ann
Dreams are a very important part of our lives and by dreams I don't mean when we are asleep. Rather, I mean dreams as in goals and our future life plans, however, often we allow others to create our dreams for us. There are several ways in which to establish our dreams and to be certain that they really are our own dreams and not someone else's dreams.

Some questions to ask yourself include:

1.What are my dreams for the future? This may seem obvious, but too many people don't even have dreams. They wander meaninglessly through life without a clear idea of what they want.

2.How am I going to accomplish my dreams? This relates to goal setting and too often if people have dreams, they haven't developed a clear plan as to how they are going to accomplish them.

3.When am I going to accomplish my dreams? Although life has its ups and downs every dream and goal needs a deadline. Deadlines can be flexible but they must still exist. You need to know by approximately when you will have achieved your goals and thus your dreams. Write them down. Find pictures which represent them and put them on a poster or inside a book. Look at it often. Visualize your dreams becoming real.

4.Do you really want your dreams to come true? This may sound ridiculous but you need to carefully consider if your dreams really belong to you or do they belong to someone else. Is someone in your family or one of your friends or society in general influencing your dreams? If so, you may find yourself rebelling against your dreams and lacking the motivation to make them a reality.

5.Ask yourself what will happen if you don't reach your dreams? Make not accomplishing your dreams more dreadful that the realization of them.

6.Realize that from time to time life circumstances may force you to make modifications to your dreams. This is okay as long as you never give up and you avoid eliminating any dream, which you truly desire. If your desire is strong enough then it will happen no matter what obstacles you may need to overcome.

7.From time to time, ask yourself if your dream is still truly important to you and remind yourself of why it is that you are doing what you are doing. This is important so that you don't loose your motivation and so that you are able to remain focused even when the going gets tough.

8.Hang in there. Your dreams will come true if you want them badly enough and if you work hard enough to make them real.
