[B471]Best Islands To Visit
by Pieter Le Roux, Pie
Because the Caribbean is made up of so many tiny and unique islands, a holiday here really does offer a truly unique and diverse opportunity for travel.

The beautiful beaches make water sports irresistible and visitors are urged to participate in snorkelling, SCUBA diving, waterskiing, surfing and more. The towns on these shores are also rich in history and culture, and provide a most rewarding tour.

Ocean World in Puerto Plata is one of the tourist hotspots that cannot be missed. The most popular programme on offer at this exciting aquarium is the Dolphin Swim. This incredible 30-minute experience allows visitors to pet, feed and swim with one of the planet's most intriguing and intelligent animals. To say goodbye, the dolphins finish off with a dorsal fin tow. This swim is preceded by an educational presentation by the trainers themselves. This will educate visitors regarding any procedures that need to be followed for their safety as well as that of the dolphins, and will provide incredible facts about these amazing animals. Each experience accommodates up to 10 people and two dolphins. It is at Ocean World that guests can also enjoy the rainforest and bird exhibits as well as snorkelling in the Tropical Reef Aquarium. Other favourites include the opportunity to watch Patagonian Sea Lions and interact with them one-on-one, hold and feed a school of small nurse sharks and snorkel with stingrays.

For something completely different, the Caribbean's Dominican Republic Monster Truck Safari is a unique tour of the Dominican Republic atop an 8 x 8 monster truck! This allows visitors to the island the unique opportunity of exploring areas to which busses cannot travel. These include rivers, streams and cane fields. This also allows a glimpse into the life and culture of locals as you explore their villages, homes and schools. This tour even includes a cup of local Dominican coffee, a product for which the region is famous. A delicious buffet lunch and drinks are served at the river's edge and followed by a refreshing swim in the river before returning to the hotel room. This tour is conducted from Monday to Saturday and lasts approximately 10 hours.

For travellers to the Caribbean who are trying to stick to a budget, there are many affordable options. One of the major factors that affect the cost of accommodation etc... is the season, so if a trip can be organised out of season, you are sure to save considerably. The best time to travel in terms of cost-saving would be during the hurricane season (August to October), or early in January.

So if it is a cheap Caribbean destination holiday you're looking for I would highly recommend the sands & beaches without a hesitation. Need to know more about what you can see and experience? Feel free to visit my site for cheap holiday destinations in the Caribbean!
