[T838]Theoretical Physics Rumor Mill

The European Playstation3 Release

Gaming sites in Europe have been speculating that the PS3 *NOT* meet its March 2007 release, and inevitably it will be delayed until the summer. Some have speculated that it may be as late as September before PS fans in Europe can get their hands on the PS3's. Sony representatives are all over the place denying this and saying that things are going just as planned.

The Media-Centric

There has been a rumor since January that Sony is working on its third Playstation model, the Medi-Centric. It would not be used primarily for gaming, but for watching movies. You will be able to play your PS games on it too, but it will have more advanced features and added HDTV capabilities. The projected price tag is around $2500.

Bioshock For The PS3

A gaming magazine in the United Kingdom, Official Playstation Magazine UK, dropped a few hints in its recent issue that Sony was planning to release Bioshock for the Playstation. This rumor has cropped up before and has always been denied by Sony (who are still denying it now), but the magazine made mention of it three times in one issue, which has led some forum posters to go crazy with speculation. The game was originally designed to be released only on the XBox and Windows.

Another Final Fantasy

There are rumblings that a new Final Fantasy game for the PS3 is in the works. Supposedly, it does not take place in Vana'diel, but somewhere from one of the earlier Final Fantasy games.

I Ain't 'Fraid O' No Ghost!

This is an elusive one. It is rumored that somebody, somewhere is making a Ghostbusters game for PlayStation 3. Supposedly the main character is none other than Peter Vankner, and he looks just like Bill Murray. There is no official word from Sony, or anybody else for that matter.

Changes for Incognito's Warhawk

It's no rumor that Incognito's been working on Warhawk. But, due to budget problems and changes in personnel of the development staff, Warhawk may turn out very differently from what is expected. Originally, the game would make use of the new Sixaxis controller technology, but the new Warhawk may be just a simple downloadable game.

Wipeout!

Sometime in 2007, Wipeout is supposed to be released for the PS3. It's being designed with the same engine as Motorstorm. If you've never seen Motorstorm, it came out last year in Japan with quite a bit of a buzz because of its realistic, almost photographic image and smooth movement.

Glimpses of Halo 3

For a few hours, somebody had posted clips of the Halo 3, the latest installment in a super-popular alien fighting game, on Youtube. The clip disappeared quickly, and the few who saw it said it wasn't anything special. Nobody could say for sure how it looked, because the clip's quality was so bad.

Keep Waiting...

The next game in the Tekken series, Tekken 6, has supposedly been pushed back to 2008. This is a big bummer for those of us who are eagerly awaiting its release.
