[O29]Of On Line Dating
by Jason Hulott1, Jas

Certainly, it could be said that on line dating is a fool proof way to really meet the people that you want to meet, compared to, say meeting someone in a club or bar.

And because the website is there 24/7, it means that people who work shifts or have to be at home to look after their dependents can still make new friends.

The other beauty of internet dating is that you can actually get to know a person before you go on a date with them. How many times have you met someone briefly who you are attracted to and find interesting only to go on date and find that they aren't what you expected at all?

At least with on line dating you have the beauty of time to actually get to know someone and while it is not a fail safe way of only physically meeting up with that ‘perfect' person, it certainly helps.

Many on line dating sites now have chat rooms and even organised group events, meaning you can extend your social circle quite dramatically.

And you get to meet people from all walks of life. There is no set type of person who uses online dating and certainly anyone who does use friendship and dating sites isn't ‘sad' or a ‘nerd'.

Particularly for women, it is the way forward in dating. There are less risks meeting up with someone who you have already gotten to know online as you can get a feel for what they are like before going on date.

On line dating is a great way to have fun and meet new people and it certainly beats shouting to be heard at someone in a bar or club!

So you make you choice but somewhere along the way you start second guessing yourself to the point where you cannot really enjoy the meal because you would of should of, could of picked something else.

Information overload can literally paralyze you with inaction or make it so that you can never really be satisfied with your decision because you are always asking yourself what if.

In this world we live in information overload goes with the territory. Our senses receive more information in one day then previous generations received in a lifetime. It can be overwhelming to try to process all of this information.

Online dating is part of that territory. Never before has it been possible to instantly connect with millions of people in the dating realm. From looks, to hobbies, to maybe an obscure reference that you thought you were the only one who knew it, online dating is the ultimate relationship smorgasbord.
And it can be overwhelming. So many people to choose from that you do not have a clue as to where to start. That’s where one question may come in handy.

What do you want?

Sounds simple but usually the simplest things are the most effective. Before you jump into the deep end of the pool, turn off the computer, grab pen and paper and ask yourself that question.

Write down the specifics. What are your parameters? Are you after a certain look or a certain way they express themselves? Maybe both are equally important to you. If so write it down. Do they have a life plan; what are their views on relationship commitment? Is it acceptable to you?

This is also a good time to do a little self examination. Are you looking for someone who shares your exact likes and tastes or are you flexible? How far outside of the parameters you set up are you willing to travel? Write down any other questions that come to mind which force you to dig deep in discovering more about yourself.

If you cannot do it all in one sitting that is more than okay. Getting into online dating is a big step so take your time; it is not going anywhere. Also understand that once you make this list; it is not set in stone. You can add or subtract things as you see fit. The point is to have a solid working idea of what you are looking for when it comes to online dating.

The almost unlimited choices online dating provides can have your head spinning. It can also have you jumping from one potential dating partner for another without fully understanding what you want to get out of your cyber chats.

So take a step back, take a few deep breaths and do some serious analyzing. When you are ready join an online dating community and get going on finding that special someone. You have already done your homework so enjoy the advantage you created for yourself.
