[N386]Nursing Diagnosis For Cancer
by Rob Moment, Rob

A diagnosis of cancer is a terrible thing. When we hear those dreaded words, “I'm sorry, but it is cancer,” most of us immediately go into full panic mode. We wonder what we will do, we wonder how long we have to live, we wonder who will care for our children while we are sick, we wonder how much pain we will be in…and the list goes on! We “wonder,” but what we are really doing is worrying.

Any doctor will tell you that worrying won't help and the stress of worrying too much can actually make matters worse. But even strong Christians begin to worry when facing a diagnosis like cancer. We wonder where God has gone, or why He afflicted us with cancer. The problem is, we aren't asking the right questions and we are letting our fears overcome our faith when we ask such questions!

God doesn't give us cancer. Repeat that thought to yourself, “God didn't give me cancer.” It's a truth that some of us forget. Keep in mind that God created for us a loving and beautiful world that was filled with plenty and void of pain and suffering. That world changed when man sinned and fell from God's Grace. So we live in a world with the pain of loss and the pain of suffering. It is simply a part of living in an imperfect world!

Don't personalize your cancer; don't look for someone to blame. Cancer is an impersonal, random disease that has nothing to do with God and everything to do with living in a sinful, fallen world. It is simply a result of being alive in a human, imperfect world. We can't pin our misfortunes on God, because God is always working to give us great blessings in life, despite the fallen nature of our world.

So where is God when the diagnosis is cancer? He's right where He has always been – right by your side, ready to help you through the pain and suffering, ready to bestow His healing touch and blessings. If you want to find God, just ask Him! Once you acknowledge God and ask for His help, you will find Him. He is just waiting for you to reach out for Him!

God's presence in the face of cancer is miraculous! He is able to be a firm and loving presence in the face of the most frightening disease in the world, and His strength and power is so overwhelming that He can grant you peace and give you comfort despite the suffering you are going through. All you need to do is have Faith – and if you have faith, you can overcome it's great enemy, fear.

So as you come to terms with the diagnosis of cancer, remember that God is right here, waiting for you to call on Him. Don't let fear overcome you, but pray instead for God's healing touch and the comfort of His loving arms. He will cradle you in His love and give you all that you need to triumph over cancer. All you have to do is ask!

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are my help in every need. I know that nothing is too difficult for you. Lord, I am praying for and believing in your complete healing and restoration. Help those who are caring for me; guide their hearts and hands as they tend to my body, even as you tend to my Spirit. Grant me the peace and strength I need to cope in the days ahead.

Heavenly Father, I look to you for all guidance. Continue to grant me wisdom so that I may continue to seek you above all things.

I proclaim my complete trust in you for comfort, healing, health, strength and protection.

Thank you for all that you are in my life and all that you will be in my life. Knowing and experiencing oneness with you, I experience true healing.

Thank you, Lord, for your Word and Your healing power.

In Jesus' name,
