by Kelly Purden, Kel

No wonder your PC is not functioning as well today as when you first used it. If you are experiencing a PC slow down, fast fix solutions are here to get your PC back into shape.

1. Empty your Recycle Bin. On your desktop, find the Recycle Bin icon. Open it by double-clicking the icon. What do you see when you open it? Is your recycle bin full of thousands of deleted files? These files take up space in your PC and may cause the slowing down of your PC. For a PC slow down, a fast fix is permanently deleting all the files that you don't need.

To delete the files inside the Recycle bin, just right-click the Recycle Bin icon in your desktop and select Empty Recycle Bin.

2. Delete Programs that you don't use. You may have installed a number of games that you tried but didn't like. You may have Office 2007 and Office 2003 both installed in your PC. You may have downloaded free programs for your past projects that you don't need anymore. Like the files in your Recycle Bin, these files take up huge space in your computer. When you have PC slow, another fast fix is to remove all unnecessary programs in your PC.

From the Start button, click Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, find the Add/Remove program icon. A window will appear that lists all the programs installed in your computer. Check the boxes of the programs that you don't need. Then click Remove Program.

3. Run a Disk Defragmenter. Another PC slow fast fix solution is to put all the fragmented files into solid files. Fragmented files are one of the top reasons for the slow down of your PC because the PC takes a long time to find the files that are in different locations than files that share the same location. Fragmented files take longer time to load.

From the Start button, find Programs then Accessories. From the Accessories, find System tools. You'll see Disk Defragment here. It will take a while to finish the running of this program but it's worth it.

4. De-clutter your Hard Disk. The last PC slow fast fix that you can do today is to clean up your disk. When you access the internet, your PC sweeps up tons of temporary internet files that remains in your PC for a faster upload of web pages. You don't need most of them because there are web pages that you visit only once and you don't want to visit again. Removing them will also free up space in your PC and will improve its speed.

Fro the Start Button, open My Computer window. Right-click Drive C. Click Properties. Then click Disk Clean up in the drop down menu.

These 4 PC slow fast fix solutions can be summed up with only one word: clean. Over the years, your regular use of your PC will surely gather lots of unnecessary space mess-ups. Clean, clean, clean and your PC can return to its optimum performance.
