“Why do New Years Resolutions fail us year after year?" Or a better question, “Why do we fail them?" I believe it comes down to this; anytime you post pone the start of something, means it is not urgent or serious enough in your life. When something bad happens to you, what do you do? You move it, you make decisions, you don’t think about it you just move forward.

 Almost all the people that I have counseled over the years in weight loss have been successful in keeping it off because at some moment in time they said, “That’s it, no more options." I am starting right now. No need to wait, just move forward and stop talking yourself out of it.

 Who says, you have to wait until New Years Eve to start feeling better, losing some weight and having more energy. Start with these suggestions:

Make a list of reasons not to start today.

Make a list of things that are preventing you from starting today.

Make a list of people that can encourage you to start today.

Why wait? Start today. Stop talking yourself out of feeling better.


Aswe enter 2009 and reflect on another eventful year, we're remindedof the need to make important personal choices. New Year celebrationsare never complete without making some realistic ,which we hope will make our lives better.

Resolutionshave some logical reasoning and can make a difference in our lives:

  1. Resolutionsbind us to those aspects of our lives that need improvement.

  2. Theyare a constant reminder of the resources we are spendingunnecessarily and how we can avoid them.

  3. Iffollowed religiously, the output is an amazing change in our life orlifestyle.

Ifyou are on the threshold of making a New Year resolution, here aresome tips that'll help you make effective ones.

  1. Lookat resolutions from the perspective of improving your life andlifestyle.

  2. Makesure every resolution benefits you and your family in your everydaylife.

  3. Focuson health: This should be a must on everybody's list. Strive formaximum compromises in eating habits which will make you healthy.E.g., If you are planning to reduce your junk food intake, plan toreplace it with a healthy alternative.

  4. Prioritizeyour time: Get organized and make a commitment to regular with friends or family that'll make work and play more enjoyableand less stressful. Make sure to take time out of your regularchores to spend time with the people that matter to you, andprioritize this.

  5. Makea commitment to save: Make it habit to save a part of your earnings.Consciously cut down on unnecessary expenses.

  6. Lastly,prepare a short-term goal based on the resolutions that you make. Atarget or goal can be a large driving factor for you to keep up withyour resolutions.

Resolutionsare small factors that contribute to developing one's overallpersonality.

Goahead and make some realistic resolutions that will keep you focusedthroughout the year. Have a Great 2009!
