[B62]Back To School Ideas For Teachers
by Jim Brown, Jim
Many parents were jubilant when the local school board voted to establish the wear of uniforms at schools in their jurisdiction. Parents realized a freedom that they had not felt for a very long time. They finally had some control over how their child would look everyday and the act of getting their child out the door to go to school was so much easier.

Parents realized that back to school uniforms allowed their children to get dressed by themselves. The parents were no longer tasked with hunting down a specific brand of sock that could only be worn with the most stylish fashion footwear that they had to find each summer at a mall. The socks that every child at home wore to school were all the same because the dress code at the school mandated it.

No child had to worry about whether they had the latest styles of clothing on their back either. The parents used to have to spend a surmountable amount of money on various shirts, pants and accessories for each child to wear to school throughout the year. All of these costs put quite a burden on the family budget and with the cost of back to school supplies there were many families that did not think that they could keep up with it for very long.

The back to school uniforms made life much easier for everyone in the family. The children seemed to be more self-assured when they dressed for school because the uniforms were crisp and had a very clean appearance at all times. The coordination of color choices was very effective in allowing each child to dress in their personal style even if there were many others at school that wore the same colors.

Some kids felt that they could relax in class and pay attention to what the teacher taught each day because they did not have to worry about whether they fit in with the crowd. With the uniform policy in force, the kids felt like they belonged and that is something that they might not have felt for a very long time.

Each child did learn over time that they could add special touches to the uniforms by using barrettes and bows in their hair. Older girls began to wear cosmetics that were very tasteful and refined yet they allowed the girls to show their individuality at times. The school dress code policies did not interfere in people being popular either. The popular groups found that the back to school uniforms gave them more time to spend with friends.

Some of the cheerleaders started a trend where the skirt styles were stylish to wear because they devised a way of shortening them by rolling the plaid fabrics at the waist. It was very easy to see who had picked up on this one stylish method of showing style while still adhering to school board dress code policies.

And, since these busy high school years lead toward college, and college expenses are going up, up and up, this also means that your teen will need to start exploring and looking for some type of work to support their current activities as well as sock away for the increasing college expenses.

Are your teens looking for jobs or will they be among those who use their time, talents, brain power and abilities to start their own business instead? Why in the world would any teen want to do that? After all, isn't it easier just to fill out a job application and go work at the local movie theater or pizza joint?

Let's explore just some of the fabulous benefits of choosing to start your own business as a teen rather than take on an hourly job this school year.

** It's Flexible - With the demanding schedule that an involved high school student has, it is often extremely inconvenient to work around a typical teenage hourly job. Why not turn the tables and start a home business where your teen along with you determines which hours he can or cannot work so it fits into the sports, homework and other activities schedules.

** It's Fun - By starting his own business, your teen can work at something he would really enjoy instead of flipping greasy burgers or scooping popcorn.

** He can take it with him - If your teen starts a successful business during his high school years, he will be able to take that business with him into his college years and beyond.

** It's educational - When your teen creates a business plan from scratch and he works it to a success point he will have learned more than most people do in a lifetime. And he can add that to the college applications too. They will love it!

** The Money is nice! - When your teen owns a business of his own, he determines his pay, not someone else or the state. He will be paid much better than any hourly job out there!

So take some time before school gets into full swing and get your teen started on his own business! You and he will have fun, learn tons and make more money... and still have time for homework and having fun with his friends!
