Can you really use strategy and game planning with video poker machines? This is a question that many people ask, and for a reason. The common thought is that video poker, just like slots, is a game of pure chance, and even if you have the ability to discard the cards that you don't want in your hand, is it still up to the random card generator in the machine to decide whether you'll win or lose. Like in regular poker, the main idea behind video poker is to get the best possible poker hand. If you know how to play basic poker, you'll have no problems to handle a video poker game. There are, however, differences between standard video poker and most of the stud or draw poker variations: In video poker there is always only one round of betting unlike regular poker that has usually more than one round of betting. Another difference is that in video poker you usually get all your cards when you press the 'deal' button and in regular poker there are usually community cards and pocket cards. Another important thing that helps players to win in a regular poker game, and you cannot use in video poker is bluffing. The machine cannot see you if you try to bluff. You have to bet and then to discard or to hold your cards and this is the only options that you may use in the game. Bluffing cannot help you in video poker, so one of the biggest elements of poker strategy is lost. You must remember that you're not playing against other players so you don't have to bluff or outthink them. The computer doesn't really care about your behavior strategies, so you cannot use all the tips that most poker guides offer the players. So what kind of tips can we provide you with? Mostly advices that deal with specific situations that you might encounter when you play in video. We can advice you to carry your coins in a bucket in order to manage your bankroll in a smarter way. We can also advice you to read the pay schedules before you start playing. You have to know the differences between full-pay and short-pay machines, you'll have to know the optimum strategy for each type of video poker machines. We can also advice you not to play in progressive video poker machines if the jackpot isn't very high and ready to hit. Other good recommendations will be to ask the casino employees about the best video poker machines, because sometimes they know better than you. You'll also need to know which machines are the best for novice players (Jacks or better) and how to use wild cards. The most important tip we can give you is to use reason and logic when you play, and mostly to enjoy this game, because after all, luck is the most important factor and since you cannot change it (unless you're using unorthodox and magical methods of course), the enjoyment you gain from the game becomes your most important profit from playing video poker.
Okay, here we go...
The first thing is to find out and expose the most compelling story about you or your product.
Look, when people read a website they can't get bored. If they do, it's all over with. Somehow you've got to find an interesting story about what you sell. Let me give you an example.
Famous copywriter, John Carlton, was asked to write an ad for a golf instruction video. The information on the video was good. But not earth-shattering.
What I do is interview everyone involved with the product. Among all those people someone will usually have a great story. They won't think much of it. But it'll be obvious to me. Because their story will have some sort of emotional - even sensational - appeal.
Once you find a good story you can create a headline around it.
Wife Of Famous Movie Star Swears Under Oath Her New Perfume Does Not Contain An Illegal Sexual Stimulant
As you can see, the story starts in the headline. It sets the tone for the entire website copy. Few people would not want to read on to find out what the secret is.
Once you come up with a great story it becomes easy to write the copy. But you also have to pinpoint and emphasize the benefits of the product or service.
Benefits are what people buy. So you have to highlight the benefits of your product in the website copy. Right down all the benefits your product delivers before and make sure you include those in the sales message.
Here's a little exercise to help you list all of the relevant benefits possible. Take a blank piece of paper and at the top write down...
"This product benefits people by..."
Then list the benefits like this...
"they can lose weight"
"they can get healthier"
"... have fresher breath..."
If you want, you can even make each benefit stand out more. Like this...
Take another piece of paper and write down...
"My product reduces nicotine cravings which helps people to...
"so that they will look better"
... save money by not purchasing cigarrettes...
... avoid binge eating while stopping smoking...
This is how you hone in on what's most important to a prospect.
The third secret to great web copy is an offer that is irresistible.
In Mario Puzo's, "The Godfather", the reason Vito Corleone always got his way is because he made people an offer they couldn't refuse.
Spend some time creating offers that people can't wait to jump on.
Making irresistible offers comes down to several things: (1) sell people what they want to buy... (2) put a limit on the quantity you'll sell to drive up demand... and... (3) set a deadline for the promotion.
Another smart idea is to include bonuses that expire after so much of your inventory sells during the promotion. You could say only 100 units will be sold at $95. Plus, you'll include three special bonuses to the first 50 people. This again will drive up demand while lowering supply. This strategy will work as long as the bonuses are perceived to be valuable by the prospects.
So there you have it, three proven copywriting strategies to sell more products from your website. To summarize, they are...
1) Come up with an interesting story to build your promotion around.
Number two is to emphasize benefits.
3) Make them an offer they can't refuse.
Put these suggestions to use and you'll boost website sales.
