[N81]Natural Search Engine Optimization
by Robert Thomson, Rob
With the advent of internet, we have seen the explosion of businesses online. You may own an off line business and wish to take it online. The basic principle of online and off line businesses is the same. You do hear stories of people making it big all the time on the internet. Always take these stories with a pinch of salt, and be prepared to work hard and put in the effort required to make your online business successful.

There are certain advantages of an online business, one of them being the numerous marketing opportunities. There are several tools that help in internet marketing, including natural SEO or natural search engine optimization. Not all of them need loads of money, so you don't have to worry on that front. Some of these tools are easily available and definitely better than many off line business marketing tools.

Natural SEO is nothing but natural methods used for marketing against the sponsored or purchased methods. Natural SEO primarily is of two types, the off page SEO and the on page SEO.

The least important of the two natural SEO techniques is the on page natural SEO, it is just the basic kind of SEO performed on the web page itself. Here, the website owner needs to take care of optimizing the Title, Keywords, Content, and Description, making sure that when the search engines check the web page, they are convinced that the keywords provided are relevant with the content provided in the web page.

The more important natural SEO method is the off page SEO, which is performed at some other region other than the web page. One of the ways of off page natural SEO is inbound links to the web page from pages that have the similar keywords related to the niche of your website. When the search engines see several such inbound links from various sites in the same niche and relevant keywords, they assume that your webpage is being seen by other websites as being a contender for the particular keywords.

The natural SEO methods cost no money, whether it is submitting articles to various directories or posting on blogs or even getting links back from other websites, unlike other methods of SEO such as Pay per Click, which is paid traffic. Paid traffic is only limited to what you pay for. The minute your account is out of money, you're PPC ads stop and with it stops the traffic, unlike natural SEO that continues to work.

Many people are of the wrong notion that just paying for SEO gets them results and they won't have to work on optimizing their site. SEO experts believe that paid advertising is just not enough. Just because you have paid for it, it does not mean that this sort of promotion will take care of your requirements.

The main thing is that if you are spending money for paid advertising, you may not have a site that is search engine optimized. The entire purpose of SEO is to be able to find methods of natural SEO that help your site to rank high in the search engines.

Right now I have two major priorities in my life, becoming an “expert" in Search Engine Optimization and enjoying the South Florida Sunshine. While focusing on the latter, I had a realization, some the best things in world are natural. This isn’t just life I’m talking about; this is also about SEO. Unfortunately in our world of SEO, taking a natural approach isn’t the rule, it’s usually the exception.

When beginning to learn Search Engine Optimization most of us make the same common mistakes. This is because people look at the internet as a “get rich quick" environment, which it can be if you’re lucky, but most who make money on the internet put in their time. It’s this “instant gratification" mentally that causes most the mistakes made by new comers. When you have this attitude your prone to use strategies like; force keywords into content unnaturally, keyword stuff in meta tags, steal content, take high PR links from sites with low trust-rank, and much more. These approaches get you no where in the long run, it might help for a quick buck, but it won’t last. Most people learn this lesson eventually as all of their sites eventually fail by falling out of the rankings or falling out of the index completely. This is ok though, it seems most need to learn the lesson the hard way for it to really sink in. I propose though, that you take a different approach towards SEO, a more natural one. So instead of trying to “manipulate" the search results, actually really provide something of high quality, something a webmaster would actually want to link to. If you do this while adding in your expertise of SEO, but not forcing it, your results will skyrocket. This will take more time, creativity, and just general use of your brain but its well worth it. You will achieve long lasting success, and your ranking will be built on a much stronger foundation. You will obtain more links, and you risk of being banned almost disappears, how’s that for peace of mind.

Some suggestions for a more natural approach.

1.Break up your keyword – Don’t always use your keyword in its exact form, add words in between in a few places. This is how it would happen if you were writing naturally. This alone will make your site look more credible, and the search engines are much more likely to trust your page. Put a “a" or and “in" in the phrase, if everything else is done correctly this won’t hurt your ranking.
2.Find higher quality links – Don’t scour the net looking for every directory possible to submit your site, I’d rather have a handful of links from relevant sites with my keyword in the anchor text than a couple hundred directory links any day of the week. Take the time to write articles like the one you’re reading right now and submit them into article directories so people with relevant content give you a link. If you take the time to provide value then others will return the favor. Apply this to your linking campaign and watch your rankings soar. Yes it will take more time and effort, but it’s so worth it.
3.Create a Blog – Make a blog based around your niche and use your keyword with quality content. Do this on a trusted blog server like blogger and link to your site from it. Don’t try and sell or promote anything from the actual blog just use it as a great keyword-based one-way link. This is perfect for when you’re having a hard time getting links from pages with relevant content. Don’t forget to use web2.0 to bookmark the blog for some extra weight.

These are just a few ways you can start to take a more natural approach to SEO. If you apply this mindset, your sites rankings will increase dramatically and provide a stronger foundation to sustain the rankings. Unfortunately most will not see the true value this article provides, but that’s okay, that will only make it easier for those who see the light. That’s enough ranting about Search Engine Optimization for one day the South Florida sunshine is waiting outside.
