[N178]New Fashion Trends 2009
by Linda Powell, Lin

Pink is a color associated with women. It is a soft and feminine color, and nowadays, even men are starting to wear pink. Seen on clothes, makeup and cars, pink is now making a wave by adding some attitude to gadgets. IPods, mobile phone, mp3 players, digital cameras, and recently, laptops are seen in hot shades of magenta.

Laptops are no longer known as symbols of the rich or the professionals. They are necessities and can be seen almost everywhere, in schools, colleges, offices, and cafes.

Nowadays, everyone is getting more and more technologically perceptive. Since laptops are commonly seen everywhere, those who want to be unique and different have started to look for ways to make their laptops match their personalities.

Nothing screams personality and attitude more than a pink laptop, right? Computer and laptop manufacturers such as Sony, Dell, LG, and Samsung, to name a few, have started to offer pink laptops. The color pink has proven to add attraction and the extra x-factor that help sell their laptops. Women, especially young teenage girls love those pink laptops, as they are not just useful gadgets, but are also fashion statements.

Say goodbye to boring black, gray, or white gadgets. Bring in some colors into your high-tech gadgets and go for pink. If you have a pink laptop, there is a guarantee that someone will talk to you by either telling you how cool your laptop looks in pink, or by asking you more about your pink laptop because they want to get one too.

You will be the envy of others if you have a pink laptop. It is eye-catching, and will certainly be a conversation starter. You might make new friends and acquaintances by sporting a pink laptop at your favorite café. If you own a business, your pink laptop might help you in getting more clients.

Some computer companies are also offering laptops for charity purposes, such as breast cancer awareness programs. By purchasing pink laptops from these companies, you are helping towards a charitable purpose, as a percentage of your purchase is donated for charity.

However, if you find that your favorite brand is not offered in pink, you can have your laptop sprayed in pink. You can also choose your favorite shade of pink. Dell XPS and ThinkPad systems are offering custom-painted laptops.

A company names Colorware specializes in custom-painting laptops too, such as Apple laptops. They also offer other colors besides pink. After you have purchased your Apple laptop, you will choose the color that you want. Then, your laptop will be assembled and painted. A special paint with UV protection is used.

Your laptop will also be treated with special chemicals to avoid scratches and damages from wear and tear. When the paint dries up, your laptop is assembled and tested to make sure that it works perfectly. Available at a reasonable price, everyone can have his or her laptops custom-painted.

Pink laptops are cute. Owning one will make you unique, especially if you are looking for individuality. Not compromising on the quality and performance of the machine, pink laptops are must-haves for fashionistas who want to be hip and trendy.

For men, why not get yourself a pink laptop? It is the color of attraction and women will definitely be more attracted to you if you are using one.

The ever turning wheel of technology has kept people on its toes for the next big thing. What gadget would subsequently be the factor for social progression as what the personal computers did in the early 80s? Ever since the birth of personal computers, science has been trying to reduce it to its smallest form which is what we have today like the personal digital assistants, portable audio and video players, ultra mobile computers and the so called smartphones.

Technology developers have been studying the potential for a wearable computer decades ago but many barriers have been encountered. The technologies for the core computing task is already ripe and are up for the task but the other peripherals such as the LCD touch screens, the storage devices and the power are not that capable of such technology then. The other barrier for this is the heat generated by the computer when it is operating. For a regular desktop personal computer, the heat can be disperse easily since it can be fitted with big bulky fans but since a wearable pc should be thin and light as possible then the fans would be the first thing to go.

Wearable PCs are on its infant stage and techno savvy individuals as well as fashion designers are ridding with the trend. Clothes are designed to accommodate an ultra mobile pc or a portable audio player is integrated into a sneaker to measure the mileage ran. Companies which are early adapters are cashing in on the band wagon with major electronic consumer brands producing prototypes for anything wearable they can think of. Mp3 players have been integrated into sunglasses, watches with mpeg players, and control panels sewn at a jacket's arm to control your digital music player are just some of the breakthroughs of wearable technology that has been embraced by society.

In Europe a company is formed to do mobile marketing by sending a fleet of people to a dense populated area wearing a pack with a pc. It serves as their mobile station and it is attached to the torso and people can basically use these to pay their bills, inquire on a product or even ask for a promo coupon.

The wearable pack consists of a PC, a touch screen LCD where people can interact and enter data, a Bluetooth transmitter and receiver and a Wi-fi connection for real time data transmission and retrieval. Though the pack is quite massive and needs tweaking in design, the functionality deserves a "two thumbs up".

Since then, people have had a desire to synergize their devices and as much as possible incorporate it together with their daily wear for convenience and portability.
