[N198]New Land Rover Freelander
by Carol Mitchel, Car
This trend does not only happen in people but it also does happen in businesses and companies. You see, if you were a dealer of Land Rover body parts, for example, you would like to start the year with a goal in mind, based on what happened the previous year. That way, the experiences are still fresh and you can start anew with the New Year.

For the Land Rover brand, the group has chosen to have its own share of resolutions for the New Year. One of the most promising ones that the brand has shared with the motoring public is that it would be offering customers and interested parties a new way of navigating through our streets and roads. Land Rover says that they had thought of doing such so as to give owners an easy time while driving. They would be offering interested parties in 2007 the latest breed of satellite maps. And yes, those who would like to take part could order these new navigation system maps online. Plus, the prices are about to drop down to half its current price.

?As a company, we embrace the use of technology to develop the ownership experience and this is clearly demonstrated with this new facility. The ability to obtain the latest map information online gives our customers a simple, cost effective method of keeping their navigation systems updated,? says Phil Popham, one of the top head honchos at Land Rover. Popham disclosed such information basing on the truth that for most vehicle brands, updating navigation systems need owners to actually purchase CDs or DVDs. However, this time around, everything would be easier online.

To actually order, one must visit the site which can be accessed through www.navigation.com/landrover. The site has already been up since the 22nd of this month. Those who may have a hard time understanding the English language can actually opt to use their native languages. Some of the languages available include that of Germany, Italy, Spain, and France.

After the success of the G4 challenge in 2003, Land Rover and United Kingdom's network television Channel 4 takes the Land Rover G4 Challenge back to the road again. Channel 4 will broadcast the events of the 30-minute episode of the 2006 Land Rover G4 Challenge starting this Saturday. As expected, the Land Rover G4 Challenge will be an adventurous and extremely on- and off-track competition which features challenges on various terrains and exhilarating locations. As for Land Rover, they will allow the participants to use their vehicles and other Rover universal parts.

Channel 4 will show the challenges encountered by the 18 participants during the extreme competition. For 28 days, the participants will face different challenges that include driving a 4WD Land Rover, kayaking, running, climbing different altitudes, exploring different cultures, and uncovering hidden gems. The 18 participants will represent their respective nations in the 2006 Land Rover G4 Challenge namely Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile and Costa Rica, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Russia, Taiwan, Turkey and United Kingdom.

The challenge will take place in Southeast Asia, crossing half way around the world to South America. The first stage of the Land Rover G4 Challenge begins in the beautiful city of Bangkok, Thailand. There will be river crossings, meeting monks from Buddhist temples, and exploring untouched jungles. After a 10-day challenge in Bangkok, the participants will move to the remote places in Laos with many log bridges and a wide area of rice fields. The first stage of the Land Rover G4 Challenge will finish at Vientiane, which is the capital city of Laos.

The next stage of the G4 Challenge is an urban competition in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilian city offers stunning city sceneries along with the vast beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean. The last stage of the challenge will happen in Bolivia. Striking views of mountain ranges also means extreme challenges for the participants. The highlight of the last stage is the event on the Salar de Uyuni, which is the world's largest salt lake. In the last day of the competition, the Land Rover G4 Challenge Finals will begin wherein the top four challengers will go face-to-face with each other to be the ultimate winner and bring home the brand new Land Rover Range Rover.
