[P259]Personalized Money Clip Wallet
by Miles Lovegrove, Mil

If you are men then chances are you've had one or two personalized money clips already in your life. A customized money clip is a classy thing to have. Ladies listen up… if you want to get your man something nice, consider a customized money clip. They are a lot handier to carry around than a full wallet. You can get them printed with your fellow's initials on them.

You can get one in silver or solid gold. You can offer corporate money clips to your employees as an award for loyal service over the years. There is virtually no end to the utility of money clips. They are so useful they are now seriously considered a wanted item by men and women both. Who wants to carry around a lumpy purse after all when all you really need with you is a driver license and a few spare dollars?

Choosing A Money Clip

A money clip is often the next best thing to a wallet. It is much more convenient, often used instead of a wallet because it is lightweight and compact. It is ideal for skinny jeans or for people that just don't want to carry around a big bulge in their pocket. Besides, a heavy wallet is really not that good for your back.

Most money clips come in metals or leather. Some include a combination of the two. You can even get magnetic customized money clips these days. These often are made of leather with magnets enclosed on the inner pieces to keep the money clip closed. These money clips let you hold larger amounts of money, although some people just prefer to have a wallet if they are going to do this.

How Do I Know If I Need A Money Clip?

If you plan to hold any more than about 10 to 15 bills at any time, unless you have a magnetic money clip, the chances are high you can get away with money clips. If you have 20 or more bills you will have to invest in magnetic money clips or a wallet (or purse if you are a lady).

Why won't money clips hold any more than that? Because they aren't crafted to. They are thin and wiry because they are supposed to hold just a few bills. They are supposed to limit the amount of cash and cards you carry around so you don't have a lot of clutter following you from here to there. Why on earth would you want to stuff your money clip full of garbage? You could get an industrial strength money clip but you are far better off sticking with simple silver or 14k gold money clips.

Most people find if they frequently travel light they can use money clips. If you live in the city you are far better using money clips than heavy wallets, because if someone picks your pocket in a crowded sub you are going to lose less that way then if you have a bulky wallet filled with your treasures for them to walk away with.

A man's wallet should accurately reflect his personality. So streamlined and sleek is obviously the way you want to go, right? You would not want a thick, bulky, unwieldy wallet now, would you? Money clips are often cited as a stylish alternative. But lots of guys who use them often find themselves with cards, bills, and IDs flying in all directions. Hard to be streamlined and sleek when you are a fumbling with all that stuff at a store's cashier.

More Than Just Looking Good

Money clip wallets are the perfect solutions to this problem. It strikes a great balance between style and function. What is it exactly? It is simply a wallet with a money clip.

Money clip wallets look like ordinary billfold wallets, but thinner. That is because there is no bill compartment. There are no side pockets either. The money clip runs through the center and there are usually slots for credit cards at the sides. There are some things you should look out for when you purchase money clip wallets.

Finding Perfection

Obviously, quality will differ between money clip wallets. You should examine the money clip itself. Open and close the clip repeatedly a few times. The opening action should be easier, but the grip should be a lot tighter when it snaps back into the closing position. This has to work with the spring mechanism of the clip. The best way to test it is to bring about 20 paper bills with you when you go shopping. Test the clip and make sure it holds all the notes in place. They should be tightly held if the spring mechanism is working well. You should also check if the money clip is affixed to the wallet, or if it can be detached. You should opt for a non-detachable clip as this eliminates the chance of the entire clip actually slipping out of the wallet without you noticing.

The money clip actually serves as the spine of money clip wallets. This makes the wallet stiffer than a typical billfold wallet. So choose a wallet that is made of soft and supple leather. This will prevent the money clip from being too much of a bother when it is in your pocket.

As mentioned earlier, money clip wallets are intended to be slimmer and sleeker than the ordinary billfold wallet. You should also look at what type of currency the wallet is made for. Some are designed for specific currencies like the U.S. dollar. Make sure you purchase the appropriate one for your use.

Style only comes with choosing the right money clip wallet. You do not want to fumble around because of a poor quality money clip wallet. You do not want your paper bills to be sticking out of the wallet and perhaps, inviting dishonest hands. Consider your needs and your personal style. Then factor in all the information above to make a wise purchase. A money clip wallet will be the perfect accessory for you.
