This year has seen huge flooding throughout the bosom of our land. Many of these flooded areas are sustained by farming. As the flooding recedes there is evident devastation to everything the flood waters have come into contact with. The farming neighborhoods forfeited crops, animals, buildings, and houses to the flood. The ruin has been immense in the middle part of the country. So much farm machinery has endured water damage. The farm machinery will have to be fixed so that the farmers can commence planting again. This machinery is a staple to the business of the farmers and their families. If at all feasible the tractors and additional agricultural gear should be moved away from the flood zone before the flood. If that isn't a possibility it is imperative that the machinery is reconditioned quickly after the flooding to avoid corrosion and rusting of the pieces of this gear which would leave the equipment permanently unusable.

Tractors are the most valuable unit of farm machinery. Do not commence commence using a tractor unless it has been looked over, cleansed, and serviced after floods. The intensity of the water damage depends on how much of the tractor has been submersed. Don't tow a flood damaged tractor as dragging might damage a transmission, as inevitably there will be water and debris in the transmission. If the tires and wheels are the lone parts that were beneath water, remove the wheels. Clean the wheels and axles carefully. Remove the wheel bearings and scrub them. Repack the bearings with oil and put them back into position and oil and replace all of the wheel assemblage.

If the water submersed more than the wheels and got into the transmission or engine, it is essential to repair any concerns created by this before you turn on the tractor. Void all the liquids from the tractor including the oil and transmission fluids. Inspect the fluids to verify if water is present. If not, fill the engine with oil and the transmission with fluid. If water is present in the liquids, take out the oil pan. Make sure that the transmission construction and engine crankcase are thoroughly cleaned. Exchange all filters and fill with new fluids. If the tractor had been totally submerged under water, the engine must have been inundated with water and detritus and should be overhauled. Have a tractor repairman see to this if you are not truly knowledgeable regarding tractor engines.

Take care to clean and refurbish any remaining farming apparatus which has gone through flooding. Remove the gnashing blades of mowers and wash and sharpen them. Take off debris and clean any remaining pieces of the mower. Grease parts and reconnect them. Cleanse and grease any bearings on the farm machinery that are not sealed. Be sure that belts do not have rips or breaks. Replace them if they do. Gear cases should be washed out with kerosene and refilled with the proper oil. Sprockets and gear works should be cleansed with kerosene and oiled. Any chains on the farming equipment should be removed and submerged in kerosene to take away rust. They should then be oiled and replaced. Don't forget to take care of the farm machinery cautiously as it is the key to the working of the farm.
