[P530]Population Of The World Today
by Gayle Etcheverry, Gay
Most grown-ups would agree that the children of the world are our future and that is the responsibility of adults to teach children about the responsibilities of life. Conversely, Angela Schwindt was once quoted saying, "While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about." The children from RandomKid.org are a perfect example of her words. They are taking action at a young age to make great changes in their world and have high hopes and dreams to fulfill. All they need is a little bit of an investment from some adults to make it all happen.

RandomKid was founded in 2005, after their then 10-year old CEO Talia Leman united kids from nearly 4000 schools across the US to raise more than $10 million for hurricane Katrina/Rita relief. Since then, RandomKid has raised $350,000 for other causes with kids in all 50 US states and 19 other countries.

Everyone is welcome to be a part of their group. Talia and the gang at RandomKid have a motto they stand by as the "Power of ANY One" and encourage schools, youth groups, instructors or anyone else who would be interested in participating to contact them.

This growing number of interested classrooms and children wanting to start meaningful service projects serves as a clear message - that the services of RandomKid are greatly needed. Teachers and youth leaders just do not have the time required to fully engage their students, allowing them to put their education into action like RandomKid can.

Today, RandomKid has reached capacity with their current resources. They've realized they must take their non-profit to a new level in order to help the 110 schools (33,000 youth) waiting to engage with RandomKid service projects.

At the present moment, Talia - their 13 year old CEO is open to new investors to join forces with her company. If serious investors are interested she has a prospectus that she's pleased to share. This is one teen who has a reputation for bringing in a high return on investment!

In 2006, Talia won the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes, which awarded her a $2000 cash prize. Instead of spending this prize on herself, Talia invested the full amount into an idea to sell key chains to build homes in the Mississippi Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. That $2000 investment turned into $50,000 in sales!

Next, Talia decided to take the $2000 gift money and put it back into another business. This time it went to bottled water businesses ran by children. This investment helped sell over 40,000 bottles of water and also purchased a new well for a village in South Africa for clean drinking water.

On another inspiring note, RandomKid recently learned Talia is receiving what is called the "Nobel Prize for Children" from WorldOfChildren.org. This is a privilege that she shares with many other incredible kids around the world and she is thankful for even being considered for this award.

I invite you to learn more about RandomKid.org and spread the word on their passion in service to humanity. As Victor Hugo once said, "Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come." Talia, you are a shining example of this quote coming to life.
