You may never have a need for poster printing in your life, but if you are reading this, then perhaps you do. Posters are often used for political campaigns, and a lot of band use them for promotion. There are other reasons you may need them, though these tend to be the most common. If you need them, you dont want to skimp and get something that doesnt look good. When you print out posters you are printing out your image. You dont want something shoddy to reflect on your reputation or your cause.
If you need poster printing, you will have to look around for a good deal. Right now, my husbands band is going through the process. They are planning to spend a thousand dollars on promotional posters to hang in clubs. They are booking shows up and down the east coast, and they need something sleek to get people in the door. Though the poster printing is going to be done through their booking agent, they do have a lot of say in the layout and where they want to get it done.
You need to find a good printing company that does poster printing. You want to get as many as you need and then some. If you print a few, you are going to have to go back and get more before you know it. It is always better to get more than you need so you dont run out. There are fees involved in poster printing that you dont want to have to pay more often than you need to. Also remember that the more you get done at one time, the less you will pay per poster in the end.
Make sure you have a high quality photograph to use for poster printing. If your picture is too small and you try to stretch it out it is not going to look good. Make sure you choose vibrant colors for your font or your posters will not get noticed. If you are going for poster printing for the first time, you may want to look through a lot of examples before you do your layout to be sure you arent making any mistakes. Dont be afraid to ask for opinions from the people in your life, and you may even want to ask someone in the shop when you go in for the final printing.
I just love making and designing custom posters for our clients. More so I love brainstorming. It is such an engaging experience. I was with the team the whole day brainstorming poster printing ideas when slowly I saw creativity lagging. We've been doing this for so many years that we usually just erupt and bleed creativity all the time. All I saw however was our minds just rehashing ideas from other print posters. This can happen in the course of a creative career. What you need to do when imagination runs out is to perform a few inspirational exercises to jump start the imagination.
Here are a few exercises to do:
1. Change the Scenery: A change in location has been known to move a stuck mind. Experiencing new locales can give you ideas that otherwise won't have appeared. Leave your office. Go to a new place in the city. Walk in the park, or just stroll through the sidewalks. Try and go to a pace you haven't been before. These places may just have that little something to help you design your color posters.
2. Talk and Share: If you have a creative team go out with them to lunch or a movie and just talk to each other. Don't just talk about the best poster printing company or about poster prices. Talk about other interesting stuff. Talk about something new. As people communicate and share different ideas, chances are some things might connect and give you your next design idea.
3. Look at nature: Nature is the great teacher of design. The hidden mathematics and beauty are there for all of us to see. Look at them, see how they are beautiful. Trees in particular are interesting. They represent a certain chaotic symmetry when created. Go to the park and look at the trees. Look at the sky while you are there. Watch as the birds fly over the pond. Watch the ripples of the water as they expand. Be observant of nature. You will have a fresh and natural idea soon.
4. Look at other art: Besides color poster printing, why not try looking at how other media design their looks. Look at sculptures, graffiti, architecture, engineering works. See the unique way in how people writer graffiti on the street using different colors. Look at the fine lines of the support beams at the local church. Watch an industrial printer as it prints color posters. Other art can be inspirational for your own poster printing.
5. Reboot your mind: Sometimes the best medicine for an uncreative mind is a reboot. Go and take a nap to clear your mind. Exercise until you are too tired. Take a nice hot bath or shower. These activities can empty up a cluttered mind so that new ideas can bear fruit.
