[P626]Prepare For The Mcat
by Dror Klar, Dro
All over the world there is hardly anything that people enjoy more than celebrating holidays. We all wait for those special times when we can take a day or two off from work, decorate our homes, and gather with family and friends, and eat to our hearts content. These are the happy times in our lives that we all live for and are one of the true meanings of life. Enjoyment!

Some of us take these celebrations a little more seriously than others. In fact, some of us start the celebrating process and preparations a little ahead of time. The things we wear play a big part in milking our enjoyment potential for all its worth. From shirts and hats to the jewelry we wear for these events are all a part of celebrating, and why not?

Jewelry for the holidays has become very trendy in recent years. You are able to find so many different items for almost every holiday known. Christmas probably has the largest selection to choose from. Pins and brooches to wear during the Christmas season have been popular for a long time, but earrings, pendants, bracelets, and watches are worn every where now. Santa Clause, nativity scenes, Christmas presents, Christmas trees, Christmas wreaths, and the baby Jesus are some of the symbols specifically for the Christmas holiday.

Minoras are popular jewelry items worn in the Hanukkah season. Although winter itself is not a holiday, other jewelry items such as snowmen, sleds, and snowflakes are cute pendants, earrings, and pins that are given as presents but can be worn throughout the cold season.

Halloween probably runs a close second to Christmas as far as jewelry goes. Little ghost, witches, pumpkins, black cats, spiders, and all sorts of spooky things are made into different jewelry pieces for this fun filled holiday. Everyone from office workers to moms at PTA meetings like to do a little dress up for Halloween. On the actual night of Halloween, costume parties are great places to wear those skeleton earrings and spider pins.

In the United States we all like to wear our little flag pins as a symbol of commitment and reverence to our country. These can be seen every where and on almost anyone of any age. They are also popular to wear on Memorial Day and on Veteran's Day. It is a wonderful symbol to show that we support our country, especially lately. So invest in some holiday jewelry and show a little more support for favorite holiday!

People draw up their landscaping plans while visions of gloriously clear days dance in their heads. But it's a mistake for homeowners to invest all of their time and money into plants to tend on sunny summer afternoons, without considering that these same landscapes must endure inclement weather as well.

Depending on where you live, rain and snow will play a huge part in your landscaping decisions. For this reason it's important to take the time to learn about your climate, and whether the plants and materials you choose will survive from season to season. The library is a great resource for both environmental statistics and landscaping books. You can also check the Internet for gardening websites, or talk to the professionals at your local garden center about landscaping for the elements.

Snow accumulation, freezing temperatures and large amounts of rain will affect your landscaping. If your yard tends to get very muddy in winter or has puddles remaining after a downpour, you've got some drainage issues to address. Creating proper drainage systems is absolutely essential to the health of your landscape, so unless you're a very experienced gardener, it's best to call a professional.

It is possible to have your landscaping designed so that the rain will provide natural irrigation for your plants. This process has a number of benefits. If you live in an urban area, water from your garden hose will come directly from the city reserves. This water will have gone through a treatment process that involves a number of chemicals, including chlorine. As you can imagine, plants will thrive on a diet of natural rainwater, as opposed to chemically treated tap water. You should also consider the money you'll save by relying on rainwater for natural irrigation, rather than maxing out your city water bill. With proper planning, you can direct most of the rainwater that falls into your yard to feed the plants and the trees. Of course, there will be dry spells, especially the hottest summer days, when you will need to provide some added irrigation. It's important that you understand the local climate to plan and provide the best care for your plants.

Snow is also a very important element to the year-round health of your yard. Snow is just as vital to your landscaping project as rain is, as a layer of snow actually helps to keep the soil at a warmer temperature. This can prevent tender plant roots from freezing and dying over the frigid winter months. Water from melting snow sinks into the ground and provides the energy boost needed to give plants a jump-start in spring. As the snow begins to melt, your spring bulbs will blossom in perfect form, giving your well-planned landscaping an early splash of vibrant colour.

To help assess the landscaping needs of your property, make note of how rain is transferred across the yard. This is an important step in planning your project, and it's easy to do. Next time it rains, grab your boots and umbrella and take a stroll around your property. Make note of areas where puddles develop, and other places where drainage occurs. Know what needs to be done before you begin, and you'll be on your way to a successful landscaping project.

Gardens aren't just for summertime; they need year-round care. Taking the time to plan and create landscaping for the elements pays off in a gorgeous all-season garden you'll be proud to display.
