[P623]Prepaid Legal Services Plan
by Mr. Roman Bernard Sloan, Mr.
For health problems we want to feel protected, same for our car and our home; but the protection of our identity and our legal rights fall to the bottom of the list.

This way of thinking is what cause me to investigate a few prepaid legal services organizations. And as I'm looking around at these different prepaid legal providers, I thinking that this may be something that could benefit only a select few of people who have to deal with legal situations.

I contemplate the importance of such a service and wonder if it is sold behind a fear laced message that causes people to take advantage of it quickly.

Years ago I used a legal professional because my dad lost his battle with severe illness and I needed help sorting through the final details of his life's legacy.

Naturally we hit a roadblock because the old timer didn't really get around to making regular revisions to his last will and testament. I've read that prepaid legal providers offer last will and testament preparation with complimentary updates annually.

I don't even have a will because that's not something that a person just thinks about on a regular basis. I should consider getting one because a couple of statistics say that seven out of ten people will go to their grave without a will.

After speaking with a few prepaid legal providers I learned that one of the first things they encourage you to do is prepare to do your last will and testament.

From what I understand about most prepaid legal services is that they are basically a voice for those who probably can't keep an attorney on retainer full time and that turns out to be most people. But I guess a prepaid legal services plan would be like having an entire law firm on retainer.

So if I had to get a will done, handle a crooked mechanic or contractor, or enforce a warranty a prepaid legal plan would allow me to do these things simultaneously. I could just unleash my law firm who are supposedly there for me.

I could be getting hit with all types of legal situations but I really have none to speak of so getting a prepaid legal service plan wouldn't really make sense to me now. The only thing that could benefit me now could be the last will and testament preparation if I had a few things to leave behind.

Prepaid legal protection to me is one of those things that you probably want to get but it doesn't seem advantageous to get until some legal stuff rears its ugly head in your life. Kind of like going to the store the buy the fire extinguisher after the fire is already ablaze at your home.

This concept has already been around and has been implemented for several years already. In Europe during the 1930's, legal plans have become largely popular and have remained as popular as it was, nowadays.

In our country, the American system of implementing legal plans steadily gained popularity. More and more companies offer different plans and options according to who will be availing of such legal services.

Many individuals and business entities have already discovered the value of such services.

How do legal plan services work?

This kind of services works by awarding provisions of basic coverage and lawyer services for a certain amount of pre-paid fee, considered as the membership fee. The payment of such fees is on a regular basis, either annually or monthly, depending on what was agreed upon by the individual, group or entity who signed up for membership.

Through payment of such fee, the member will have the access to a lawyer or attorney and the legal services they provide. Without a legal services plan, the individual would have to pay directly to the lawyer, in several cases, a considerable sum of money as service fee being charged by the lawyer or attorney.

Does this kind of plan help solve your legal concerns and problems?

It is quite helpful if you do have the necessary budget for the fee system imposed by a lawyer in rendering his legal services. Nevertheless, it does not solve all of the legal issues you are confronting.

What is the focus of legal plans?

•Preventive kinds of legal care – avail of legal services like professional lawyer advice and assistance to prevent having legal difficulties in your personal or business ventures. Some also handle basic legal issues wherein many individuals and businesses require legal support with.

This can be availed by having a free consultation with a legal counsel without any further cost arising. The consultation can be done using the phone. You will be given a chance to call the lawyer for different legal matters and issues, however numerous. For every question or issue that you raise, you can avail further of a free session with the lawyer.

•Legal plans – another kind of legal services being provided. It includes a free will with annual updates. Some plans include writing a letter of correspondence or accomplishing calls for you.

This kind of service is quite valuable. If you are in the middle of a dispute, many issues can be cleared up with their awareness that you have an attorney representation.

Coverage for document and contract review will also be provided as part of the legal plans. If you have questions regarding the purpose and preparation of documents, then a lawyer will happily oblige you with necessary answers.

If you require more legal services such as court appearance and any other extra help, your membership in the legal plans entitles you to discount on the hourly fee being charged by the lawyer.

As you can see, even though there are certain limitations with the legal services plans, being a member of it can help you greatly, especially in identifying potential legal troubles and staying out of them and having great and affordable options when you find yourself in a quandary.
