Most of us date the people that we like and never give any thought to what race or culture they may be. For most of us, mingling with people of all backgrounds is an every day occurrence but when you start to date someone of a different race you may encounter a lot of hesitation from friends, family, and even strangers. This can complicate a budding relationship and even negatively impact a solid relationship.

When you date someone of a different race you should talk about it with them. You can let them know that you obviously do not have a problem but that you want to make sure that they are comfortable with the race differences. This can be a very delicate subject, so make sure that you are not negative about it or come across as overly worried because they are a different race. Just let them know that you want to confront any hesitation from those around you together and you want to make sure that they are as comfortable as you are.

The great thing of dating someone of a different race or cultural background is that they will be able to share their culture or background with you. You can learn things that you never knew before, be exposed to cultural customs, and even try new foods! This can be a learning experience and through sharing these things you may find that you grow even closer to the individual and grow more educated yourself.

Through you may not see the skin color of the person that you know and love, you may find that the people around you do not feel the same. When you experience any hesitation from those around you, don't get angry, rather use it as an example. Let your friends and family get to know the person that you are dating and soon you will find that they let the race issue go. When you get angry or defensive you will not help the situation, rather educate them in a way that you are being educated. You can help those around you to become a better person, reminding them that race is not as important as how someone treats you and your happiness.

You should not worry about dating someone of a different race. When you open yourself up to dating all people you may find Mr. or Mrs. Right. It is when we limit ourselves that we may find dating very frustrating and anything but enjoyable. Make yourself available to all people, regardless of race and culture, you may meet someone really great as well as stretching your mind and your appreciation for other cultures.
