Welcome to Alaska or as the Aleut people say, Welcome to "Alyeska", the "great land". Yes most definitely Alaska is a great land. It is one of the biggest states in the United States (almost big enough to one fifth to the rest of the US) and on the other hand one of the least populated areas in the US (definitely it's a place to visit if you come from crowded NY or LA).
Its one of the two sates in the US which don't share a border with any other state (second state being Hawaii). So what's so special about Alaska, infact a good question to ask if you haven't yet visited Alaska.
It is a place which can be called "special" in this world. And why not where else do you find striking wildlife, wonderful mountains, glacier-carved valleys and steep, rocky coastline at one place. Yes it's Alaska, the great land.
Whether you are a wildlife buff or an adventure lover or just trying to escape the high city life in the company of your loved one doing nothing, this state has lot much to offer to everyone. Just plan your holiday choose the travel mode to reach here (there are many ways which lead you to this place) and immerse yourself with the breathtaking beauty of nature.
Don't rush with less number of days to this state, instead plan your holiday in such a way that you can experience and enrich with all the scenic places in here. In all you can find many hotels in here but you have to read the reviews carefully before choosing one. See to it that the hotel you have chosen is in your budget and gives you the reach to the scenic destinations. Hotels here provide a good service and many facilities. Make your reservations before you reach there.
Obviously one great reason to visit Alaska is to watch the wildlife. Beyond the well known whales, salmon, and bears, there are many opportunities to see moose, lynx, wolves, dall sheep, caribou, fox, coyotes, and more on land. You may take a guided tour or head to a wildlife refuge to see these animals, or you might just come across them in the course of your planned activities. Sea life is also abundant around the coasts, especially in the many fjords around the Kenai Peninsula. These under-water valleys, carved by glaciers that are still "calving" are home to many species including sea otters, puffins, sea lions, kittiwakes, humpback and orca whales, harbor seals, oyster catchers and more. Bird watchers will find many beautiful species spend time in Alaska, but may be particularly interested in the migrating shore birds in Homer or the snow geese in the Kenai River Flats.

Another great reason to visit Alaska is all of the outdoor activities readily available for all skill levels. You can hike the Harding Ice Field which is a glacier 1/2 a mile deep and bigger than Rhode Island, you can take a river float trip, white water raft, take sea kayaks out around Kodiak, hike, hunt, ski, canoe, mountaineer, or even scuba dive.
If you prefer time learning about the unique historical and cultural aspects of Alaska, there are plenty of opportunities for such experiences. Many varied tours are offered around the state featuring native traditions and history such as totem poles, native handiwork and crafts, blanket toss, native dancing and music, and various festivals. There are museums and cultural centers throughout the area including those centered on Alaska's WWII activity, archaeological discoveries, the Alaskan Pipeline, the arts, and Alaskan Aviation. Additionally, you can learn about and experience Alaska's gold rush days at many camps and tours centered on the subject.
