[S388]Shop For Jeans Online
by Brenda Fleen, Bre
In my search for the ultimately low-priced but high-quality denim apparel in the internet, I drowned in blue jeans. It's not like all of us wish to buy from the designer stores all the time. If in doubt with Walmart, there's always a way to get a better bargain to get a splendid pair of jeans. Be it a classic high-waist or a trendier low-cut, your favorite jeans will always find their way around your legs and hips sooner than you expect.

The trick is to rummage through the online bargains. Unlike the traditional way of shopping where we can pick the trousers we like at the brick and mortar stores, these days we just visit them online and have our measurements input on the shopping information sheet that the store provides. There's a great wall that divides the "designer" jeans you buy in the manufacturer's store and those designer jeans that you get to pick at "sales" online. For example, I can buy Seven for all Mankind Flare Stretch at www.sevens7jeans.com as an eBay item for only $90, but if I visit Blue Genes at shopbluegenes.com, I'd probably be able to buy the same item (well, almost since I'm choosing both flared style, Havana or no Havana) at a much expensive price of $196. As you can see, the difference isn't always in the style, the cut, or the size, but on the "sale" date or the site where the jeans are sold. If you are keen in seeking these sale items, you'd most likely find them, but you need to hurry because they will only be available at a limited time.

Depending on the style though, there are still some discount shopping sites that cater to the urbanite as well as the chic and worldly lady. UrbanOutfitters.com lets you sift through a number of hip-looking denims at an extremely affordable price. Although most of the jeans in the collection aren't necessarily classic and blue, they are from top manufacturers such as Diesel, *True Religion*, Mavi Matt, Seven for all Mankind, Evisu, Kill City, and Levi's. This time around, the trendier styles cost a lot more than last-year's such as Lux Stretch Slim Jean Raw, which costs $68, and Silence & Noise Super Skinny Jean Grey, which costs $98.

Apart from Saks Fifth Avenue (www.saksfifthavenue.com), I've ranked a few top sites where jeans lovers can get the best of all worlds: quality and stylish denim at rock-bottom prices. Saks is one of the last places in the world where I think you could get desiger jeans from Marc Jacobs, Dolce and Gabbana, or Moschino at slashed prices. The best pick in the bunch could be Dolce & Gabbana's Daisy Embroidered Jeans, which is a fantastic pair of jeans that is sold at $1350.00, but is now discounted at$404.92. If this is still tough on your bank account, check out the really class-looking jeans from Moschino called the Cheap And Chic Bootcut Cotton Jeans which was priced at $395.00, but is now sold at $177.67.

My discount store list begins at Buckle.com. Here, you can literally pick your favorite Lucky Brand, Guess, and BKE jeans all at less than $100. The Guess Foxy Stretch Jean at $79 while the fancy-looking Miss Me Rhinestone Stretch Jean is sold at only $83. These jeans come in your favorite blue color along with grays, blacks, and washed-outs. Of course, they aren't anything like True Religion's destroyed style, but they fit the bill enough if you're the budget-conscious type.

Another place to get super-cheap jeans is at Land's End. This store is probably difficult to find in your area, but actually you don't have to set foot on their brick and mortar store to get yourself fitted. You can buy custom jeans for only $54. The rest of the items are sold from $24.50 to $49.50. Classic Waist, Relaxed, and Natural jeans are sold at an average of $35. SmartBargains.com gives discounts on all the items, so much that a Calvin Klein Jeans Low Rise Boot Cut Blue Jeans that is sold at a retail value of $79.00 is finally slashed to $39.99, giving you a 49% discount on the item. And if this isn't enough, I recommend you check out Chiff.com, where an archive of where the latest jeans sales are posted -- a fast find source that even gives tips and guides on how to pick your jeans in style.

Browsing for jeans online is not the easiest way to ensure perfectly fitting new duds, but there are some things to keep in mind that will help ease the stress that can come along with it. Jeans traditionally have a way of being rather temperamental. A size 8 in one brand may be grossly different than a size 8 in another brand. It is frustrating when you go to a store, hoping to walk out in a few minutes with the first pair of jeans that you find in your size. Of course, this is rarely the case.

Shopping for jeans online is a whole new ballgame, mostly because the need to try on jeans before you buy them is there, but of course, there is no way to try them on. At least at the mall you can waltz into a dressing room and camp out with 10 pairs at a time, picking the ones that fit the best. Trying to pick out jeans online is incredibly difficult simply because you cant try anything on.

People are not too crazy about putting jeans into their online shopping cart, entering their personal information like addresses, phone numbers, and credit card numbers, and then paying for something that they hope will fit, but arent sure of. In addition, there are, of course, the people (most of us) who, when paying for something, want the item NOW, not in 3 5 business days. Sometimes, getting something we really want in less than a week just is not good enough!

But fear not, there are a few things that can be done to ease the shopping excursions for jeans online. It is easiest to shop for jeans online if you are familiar with the brand and the way their jeans fit on you. If you have three pairs of brand x jeans at home that have been worn 30 times each, you probably have a pretty good idea if that same size in the same brand will fit you or not. So, when shopping online for jeans, the first tip is to try to stick with what you know.

Something that is usually more readily available online than it is in brick and mortar stores are sizing charts. When looking for jeans online, many e stores and webstores post sizing charts on the pages to try to help you a little in getting an idea of the size you need. There usually are not sizing charts posted on the walls of Macys. Find the charts, and use them to your advantage.

A good rule of thumb when buying jeans online is that when in doubt, go one size bigger. Depending on if the style of the jeans is baggy or more slim, this rule could help. It is difficult, though, to judge waistband sizes. If you get a pair of jeans that is too small, the waistband could still be too big, and vice versa. The waistband issue is a tricky one. It also depends on if the jeans are supposed to be high waisted or hip huggers. Always check the return policy for e stores when shopping online for jeans. When all else fails, it is a good insurance policy knowing that you could easily just stuff the jeans back in the box, tape it up, and send them back.

It can become a hairy situation if the company makes it unclear how to return items or makes it difficult to do so. Of course, when you do have to return jeans that do not fit, the problem becomes the fact that you still have no jeans, but at least you would then know how the brand fits you in that size, and the company usually will exchange for a different size or be fairly quick to offer a refund.
