[S515]Six Degrees Could Change The World
by Chloe W., Chl
China's recent snow storm caused a huge disaster and it is also the worse weather ever since 50 years ago. In the UK, warmer weather is completely changing what farmers can grow. Storms in the US and fires in Australia also destroyed lives and buildings. It looks like the movie "The Day After Tomorrow," everything on the earth is freezing and scaring.
There is no doubt that we are facing the serious global warming problems. From the past years, rumors about the global warming are everywhere. Many theories and ideas about this environmental crisis are booming. Based on a landmark report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change releasing in 2001, the temperature of our earth will rise between 1.4 degrees and 5.8 degrees Celsius by the end of this century. Recently, Mark Lynas, a British scientist, had released what might be the scariest news. His research discovered that if the earth warms up by six degrees, our world could totally change. It can not only harm billion of livings on earth but also happen before the end of the century.
The National Geographic Channel will look into this theory: Six Degrees Could Change the World in this month. Based on this theory, Coral reefs and many mountain glaciers will die or lost at 1 degree Celsius. Greenland's ice sheet, the creation of deserts in the Southern Africa and the Midwestern United States will disappear as well as the Amazon rainforest will collapse if rise a 3 degree Celsius. The creepiest part is that all life on earth including human beings will be eliminated if the temperature rise a 6 degree Celsius.
The world's temperature is increasing degree by degree. There are many shocking news already there everyday such as numbers of wildfires, typhoons, and tornados as well as melting glaciers and drying rivers and lakes around the world. These fatal changes are jeopardizing our lives.
You can go to the National Geographic Channel to purchase "Six Degrees Could Change the World DVD" and "Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet" (http://shopsearch.nationalgeographic.com/) for a detail information.

All that has changed, of course. Today people may delay their entry into college for any number of reasons: pursuing military service, single parenting, perhaps just an unwillingness to pursue further schooling at that time. Many people just start their careers (or attempt to start them) by entering the job market straight out of high school.

Then something happens - the light finally goes on, and they say, "I need more educational training!" But, at that time of life, responsibilities and commitments may make it difficult, if not impossible, to devote 3 to 4 (or more) years to higher educational pursuits. Did you know that the average age of the university graduate is steadily climbing? That means that, more than ever, people are returning to school later in life.

That's where the University of Phoenix comes in. Some years ago, they realized that traditional educational environments were changing - and they changed with it. They are known today as innovators in higher education - they have redesigned the traditional college curriculum so that people with adult lives and commitments CAN attend classes - online. The folks at the University of Phoenix realized that many adults just don't have the time to go to daily classes, so they have leveraged the power of the computer to bring those classes to you!

So you are asking the obvious question: what types of degree programs and courses does the University of Phoenix currently offer? Well, you can pursue coursework in Criminal Justice, Marketing, Management, Health Care, IT, Business, E-Commerce, Education. Of course, they are developing new programs all the time. It is worth noting: all of their instructors are themselves holders of Masters or Doctorate degrees.

And the payoff? By taking classes through the University of Phoenix, you can complete most degree programs in 2-3 years! Imagine - an accredited degree in less time than traditional schools, even while maintaining full-time jobs and family responsibilities! Both non-degree, Bachelors and Masters programs are available. And with your weekday schedule in mind, they offer classes on nights and weekends, and major assignments can be completed during the weekends.

One thing that I absolutely LOVE about the University of Phoenix is that you will be assigned a real, live human being as a contact and resource person. So if you have any questions about their programs, or need to make payment arrangements, or need help in getting enrolled - they are there for you. You can email or telephone them, and they will help you to get off to a great start.

So, what are you waiting for? You know you need more education - even your family and friends have been telling you that. You have the drive. Life has prepared you - you are ready. All you need now is someone to help you realize those educational dreams - and the University of Phoenix is a great school that will help you do just that!
