[S520]Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
by Robert D. Thomson, Rob
The six sigma process limit is what our upper and lower levels of quality will be. IT is used to determine if we are within the specifications of the customer needs. The six sigma process measures the data and processes to determine where the problem data lies. In implementing six sigma process we are trying to get to 3.4 defects per million outputs. The total outputs is the opportunities in which defects can occur within the process. Six sigma is often difficult for most people to understand because of the statistical methods used, but the software performs all the hard work for you so no need to worry about complex formulas or memorizing obscure terms. The process of six sigma is designed to get the output as close as possible to one hundred percent quality. Variability is the fact that most processes change a lot and change over time. This subject happens within every process in every industry. In implementing six sigma you will do continuous improvement over time and the process never ends. The overall objective of the process is to reduce the variability of the process so we can better control and plan for the events of the process. The set of quality management tools and methods that six sigma uses a defined sequence of steps and seeks to have a substantial effect on the financial data. We will measure the processes in our current process. What is critical to the impact of the customers quality needs? What are the risks if we cannot get the process under control? How are can we collect the data we need? Often companies use surveys? and forms to collect important data from customers and this data is so valuable because it shows the business what's really important to the customer. We can use a six sigma tool called a failure modes and effect analysis which categorizes the severity of risks associated with the process.
