[S519]Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate
by Craig Calvin, Cra
The importance of Six Sigma has been well understood by many companies. They undertake Six Sigma initiatives to make it a culture in their companies. These companies have accepted the need for a disciplined approach to problem solving and continuous improvement. This is possible only when they have trained employees who can undertake the responsibilities associated with such a Six Sigma initiative. There are various jobs available in the industry, based on the expertise and the experience achieved over a specific period of time. Some organizations employ various experts as permanent employees, while some seek the services of expert consultants.
Every company has its own staffing needs for its particular niche in the business world. While the jobs may be similar to one another from company to company, each business may provide different names to them. Just as the names may differ, there will likely be some variance in the requirements for each. Some companies prefer to train within, promoting existing staff they want to place in leadership positions, while some prefer to hire outside experts. Senior positions such as a Six Sigma Black Belt graduate may hold, may refer to a higher level program manager. These graduates have the experience and expertise to undertake management of projects at various levels in the organization.
In any organization, an employee with Black Belt certification holds an important position. The certification process insures that they have received training on Six Sigma tools like DMAIC and DFSS methodologies. The Black Belt holder will be an expert in statistical analysis with a good understanding of the indicators the data provides. Companies often prefer to promote and train Black Belt holders from within, but if they don't currently have a Black Belt on board, they may opt to hire one for training instead of sending employees outside of the business to get their training.
The Black Belt certified candidates will have certain skills that will be considered as imperative for some higher level positions. While some companies may not specifically advertise for Black Belt positions, the qualifications are mostly the same. The jobs may be listed as Program Manager, Project Lead, Lead Analyst and so on. These types of jobs generally require someone with the certified level of a Green Belt or a Black belt. There may be other requirements for the position, such as experience in the same industry.
There are Six Sigma positions available in a variety of industries at a variety of levels today. No matter what position the candidates are applying for, they will need a clear understanding of the Six Sigma principles and techniques, and must have a proven ability to achieve goals that have been set. No matter what business the company is in, their search for Six Sigma employees will always require a skill set and determination to help streamline their processes and ultimately lead them to more profitablity.

In order to have an effective improvement project, the leaders, or Black Belts are depended on for effectiveness in leadership. This will most likely be the Black Belts because they should be the ones with the best knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, as well as being effective at mobilizing all parties required to bring about these improvements. First, they must be able to mobilize themselves.
Every Black Belt may not be good at mobilizing stakeholders and teams. Luckily, they can learn this skill, by first learning to mobilize oneself. The best way to understand everything is to be able to get into the team members' heads to see their viewpoints. Once they can do these things, they can mobilize others.
IN order for the Black Belt to mobilize his team members, is it important to step into their shoes. One of the first things a team member will want to know is what is in this for them? The best answer to this question would be to ask back, what they are expecting? Then the Black Belt can plan the meeting around all of these answers.
Stakeholders are also in need of mobilization, as they will be affected by changes as well. The stakeholders are comprised of higher up management, peers and clients. It is imperative to relay project status to them. Keeping them up to date will assist you in getting them to accept projects.
The project leader or the Black Belts can mobilize others very well, if they are able to mobilize themselves first and understand the needs of others. By constant review and analysis of the members, the Black Belts can ensure that everyone is geared up towards the success of the project.
