Before the audition in Milwaukee , some of the best dancers who auditioned in the other cities are first reviewed in the show. Roommates Katee Shean and Natalie Reid, who auditioned in LA, impressed the judges with their excellent contemporary routine. They successfully earned a ticket to Vegas. Back in Washington D.C. , Janette Manrara and Romulo Villaverde took the center stage and performed an exceptional Salsa routine. Both made it through the choreography but it was only Janette who was sent to Vegas.
For two days, the judges watched the talented dancers of Milwaukee strut their stuff. Some memorable performers included two tap dancers. The first was Bianca Revels who trained by known dance teachers. The other one was Lizz Plott. Lizz has already auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance. This time, she performed her true passion which is tap, and earned a ticket to Vegas.
Another excellent performer was Kourni Lind. Nigel was so impressed with her that he compared her moves to that of Uma Thurman's.
Yesenia Gomez and Philip Courter is a pair of friends who auditioned last year but unfortunately, they were cut. Yesenia decided to make some significant changes in her life and worked hard to shed off 50 pounds on her weight. Unfortunately, she injured her knee in the middle of her routine. Although she wasn't asked back in the choreography, the judges ordered her to come back for next year's audition. Philip on the other hand made it through the choreography and was awarded a ticket to Vegas.
Guest judge and choreographer Mandy Moore joined Nigel and Mary in Salt Lake City. Despite of the ferocious weather which continued for two days, the judges were still able to find 42 extremely promising dancers to send to Las Vegas.
The audition in Salt Lake City turned out to be full of heart warming stories including those of Chelsea Hightower's and Brett Banford's. Chelsea is a ballroom dancer, whose family has undergone some serious financial crisis, losing their home and almost everything they have. But this did not stop Chelsea for continuing her training and pursuing her dreams. The judges were impressed by her moves and she was immediately awarded a ticket to Las Vegas. Brett on the other hand is truly an inspiration to all. Although he did not make it to the next round, he still proved that people with Down syndrome still has a place in the world of dancing.
Kelly Baker is another remarkable performer. She is the daughter of Bony Story, the Emmy award-winning choreographer behind High School Musical. Although carrying a lot of pressure because of her mother's success, Kelly proved that she is one talented dancer as she impressed the judges with her amazing performance.
Gev Manoukian, a hip-hop dancer who likes to break dance on ice should have been included to those who will move forward to Vegas. Unfortunately, the judges think that he still needed more training. On the other hand, Ryann Race, a club DJ still has a lot of things to prove although the judges allowed him to advance. With his talent on question, there are predictions that he would be cut from the series once they are already in Las Vegas. Bestfriends Kortney and Shelley auditioned together. Although Shelley is the stronger dancer, they were both sent to Vegas.
Adam Shankman, the man behind Hairspray, joined Nigel and Mary for the auditions in Dallas. Everything seemed wrong at the start of the auditions because of the number of crazy dancers who stepped on the stage. One of them is Chad Agnor, a full-contact fighter slash country line dancer who pulled his hamstring just before taking the center stage.
John Dix and Arielle Coker was the favorite pair for the night. They performed a marvelous lyrical pas de deux. The judges were completely smitten to Arielle. Unfortunately, they think that John does not deliver strong enough. They only chose Arielle to move forward to Las Vegas.
Next round of auditions would be in Washington, DC and Charleston, SC.
