[S355]Shampoo For Cradle Cap
by Addam Devin, Add
If the cause of a disease is known then it becomes easy to cure it. That is why whenever any new disease breaks out, scientists zero in on finding out the real cause behind it. But they do not do so for all kind of diseases. Particularly, if it is a harmful one then time is not wasted on it. It is because of this the actual cause behind cradle cap is not found out yet; nor does it hamper the treatment of the disease.

As per research made so far, the reason behind cradle cap is found out to be the overactive sebaceous glands in the skin of a neonate. This is due to the fact that mother’s hormone still works in the baby’s circulation. The glands release a greasy substance that old skin cells attach to the scalp as they try to dry up and fall off. Some specialists also opine that it may have something to do with skin yeast.

Pityrosporum ovale or Malassezia furfur as it is renamed is the yeast thought to be the cause behind cradle cap. Some other practitioners held the baby’s immature digestive system responsible for the disease. They think that the system fails to absorb sufficient biotin and other vitamins of the B-complex group. As no extensive research has been made in this field, there is difference of opinion as to the cause of the disease.

As mentioned above, there are some diseases that can be cured without much effort. To cure them fully, it is not necessary to know the exact cause behind it. Cradle cap is one such disease. It does not require any serious treatment to be cured. Even, if it is managed properly then it will vanish in course of time. Thus, cradle cap is a harmless skin condition easily curable. So, no extensive research is made on its cause.

Cradle cap is a neonatal disease mostly found among the newborn babies. The symptom is yellowish, patchy, greasy, scaly and crusty skin rashes. Usually the rashes occur on the scalp of newborn babies. They are generally prominent around the ear, the eyebrows or the eyelids. It begins to occur sometime in the first three months after the birth of the baby. It may appear in the other areas of the body as well.

Otherwise known as seborrhoeic dermatitis, this neonatal disease is harmless and need not to be worried about. Generally the skin condition vanishes within a few months. In severe conditions, it may take two years for cradle cap to vanish. It is also not a contagious disease. So, there is no chance that it will become infectious. Yet, it may spread to the other parts of the body. In some cases, it may also get very ugly to look at.

So, if not to be worried about, it is also not advisable to leave cradle cap in its own condition. Parents should take care that it is not spreading to the other parts of the body and also that the affected area is not getting too rough and ugly. After all, no parent will like ugly spot on the body of their lovely kids. As the disease is harmless and not caused by any infection, it does not require any mainstream medical treatment.

It has been seen that cradle cap is curable with the usage of mild shampoos. Though it is not always indicated precisely what is exactly meant by mild shampoos, child product from a reputed brand will suffice. Other way of treating cradle cap is the use of home made pastes. Some natural herbs are effective in treating the skin condition. So, using paste made out of natural herbs can be of valuable help.
