[S446]Side Effects Panic Attacks
by Bob Bastian, Bob
If you are dealing with the effects of a medication that you are taking for your panic disorder, you may in fact think that your medications are not working for you. It is important to make sure that you are discussing this with your health care provider so that you are letting them know what is going on. You need to keep them informed so that you are not hurting yourself and so you are getting what you need.

Your doctor is there to help you want they want to help you as much as they can. If you do not feel comfortable opening up the lines of communication with your health care provider. You want to be prepared for anything that you want to tell your doctor. You just have made sure that you know what you want and how you want to get it done.

Make sure that you are keeping all of the records that you need regarding your panic disorder. You should let the doctor know what you are talking including other prescriptions and other over the counter medications that you may be taking. This will include anything like herbs, vitamins, and even some types of supplements.

You want to learn as much as you can about the medications that you are taking. You want to look up the information on them as much as you can. When you know what you should expect you would feel better. You want to understand when you are supposed to eat and what you should not mix with the medications that you are on for your own protection.

Understand your doctor's instructions. If you do not understand something, you need to make sure that you are doing all that you need to so that you are not leaving your doctor's office without the help and the feeling that you are completely satisfied with what you know. Do not keep yourself in the dark about your medications. If you do not understand something, you need to get the clarification that you are looking for.

You may want to ask your doctor if there are any known side effects for the medication that you are talking. If there are, you may want to get the list and completely understand what you can expect or may happen to you when you take the medications. If you are having any conflicts with your current medications, you will want to make sure that you are keeping your doctor informed. You have to be sure that you are able to know if something is not right about your body and if you are feeling funny in any way, you need to report it to the doctor.

Make sure that you are speaking to your pharmacist as well. Once you leave the doctor's office, you need to fill your prescription at the pharmacy. You will want to make sure that you are communicating with the pharmacist so that they can help you learn more about the medication and get you ready for anything that may be unexpected.

Sometimes what we fear may happen can be overly exaggerated. A lot of times, our worrying can make the problem even worse. Remember that all the worrying in the world will not change anything. All you can do is to do your best each day, hope for the best, and when something does happen, take it in stride.

A good way to manage your worry is to challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make your fearful or anxious, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense.

I read that most of what we worry about never comes true. Instead of worrying about something that probably won't happen, concentrate on what you are able to do. Everything else you can leave in the hands of God.

When overwhelmed with worry, a person may encounter a lot of scary thoughts coming at them all at once. Instead of getting upset, remember that these thoughts are exaggerated and are not based on reality. From my interviews with various professionals, I've learned that usually it is the fear behind the thoughts that gets us worked up. Ignore the fear behind these thoughts, and your worry should decrease.

When managing your fears and anxieties do not try to tackle everything at once. The best solution is to break your fears or problems into a series of smaller steps. Completing these smaller tasks one at a time will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of success.

As a Layman, I realize it can be difficult to get rid of our fears and worries even when they overwhelm us. If nothing else works, take a deep breath and try to find something to do for a few minutes to get your mind off of the problem. Doing something you enjoy can give you a fresh perspective on things.
