Are you trying to build a list of subscribers and are stuck on a way to get them to sign up? These days one of the most powerful ways to build your opt in list is to use co-registration and product giveaways. Product giveaways are a great way to build your list fast and it uses other leverage techniques that can save you time and money.
However, there may be some disadvantages to using these techniques. Let's go over some of them.
1 - The person signing up for your list is also signing up for someone else's who is most likely in direct competition with you. Keep in mind that when they are sending out information on products and services, you will probably be doing the same thing and giving your list member the same email twice and a reason to unsubscribe.
One way around this is to always send out unique emails so that they never get the same email twice. This is especially true in internet marketing. Competition is fierce so you need to be original.
2 - By promoting products as an affiliate you will more than likely be sending your members or site visitors to a squeeze page. A squeeze page is where they will enter their email information and join the list of the person whose product you are promoting.
Now this is great if you get a commission, but even so, after you get this commission you will no longer have this person as a customer. However, the affiliate product owner now has this persons email to continue to promote to thanks to you.
A good way to avoid this is to offer your site visitors a free e-book, report or tips in relation to the product you are promoting. This way they are sent to your squeeze page first and you get the email as well. Then you simply promote the affiliate link within the report you are giving away or in your auto responder.
Yes, you will have a similar situation as mentioned in the first scenario, but the email you obtain will be much more targeted and the member will now know you.
3 - The last item to mention is giveaway products. Many authors will allow you to give away their e-books freely to your website visitors and list members. The drawback here is the contents of the e-book. You can always get resell rights as will be decribed below.
There is nothing wrong with having the authors name, URL and company information within the e-book. After all they did write it. The thing is many authors now have complete opt in forms or require that you register to gain access to the complete e-book. This will also be redirecting possible subscribers to your list.
Try a variation of #2 and have them opt in to your list before giving them the download link. There are also programs available that allow you to giveaway the e-book with your product or opt in details as a back end offer.
You can also bundle several related e-books and offer them as a reward for signing up for your list.
Try to get resale rights as well. This may allow you to re-brand the e-book with your opt in information. This way the author gets credit and you can still get the subscriber.
Using co registration and product giveaways are a two way street. The key is to try and get the visitors email as well as give them a valuable tool or service.
List building is largely about building relationships. What better way to start than to give them something of value? Just make sure that you get something valuable in return. When it comes to marketing online, there's nothing more valuable than your subscribers.
When I talk about getting started in building your own profitable email list I don't want to spend time with the basics. The basic for email list building includes your Free offer, your squeeze page and your opt-in form. I'm going on the assumption you already have the above 3 parts.
So let's get started.
Sit down with a clean sheet of paper and write out all of the ways you know of to drive traffic to your squeeze page. For more details www.mailing-list-gold.com Don't evaluate, don't think about it too hard, just write as many as quickly as you can.
My list would include: writing and submitting articles, list exchanges, JV partners, classified ads, eBay, local cheap newspaper ads, radio ads, flyers on everyone's door, mailing letters, Craigslist.....
Ok, you see some of my ideas are good, some are....well downright "stupid". Try and think of at least 20 different ways to drive traffic to your squeeze page. This really is the start to effective list building.
Next evaluate which 3 you feel would be the best for you. You may be the type that hates writing anything. You may feel you have nothing to write about, or you've had a few bad experiences in English class, or maybe you don't have a good command of the language. Fine, choose something else. It really doesn't matter what you choose, just choose 3.
Once you chosen, make the personal commitment to work on #1 for 30 minutes for 2 days this week. Choose #2 and commit to working on it for 15 minutes 2 days this week. Your success in list building will be determined by whether you will follow through on your own commitment.
Then do it!! It doesn't matter how much you actually get done. You don't have to complete the task, just work on it.
What you'll discover is just the act of "doing something" will give you the momentum to accomplishing something. For more details www.build-own-list.com Let's say you work on #1 for the entire week. Let's say that #1 only produces 3 visits to your squeeze page. And #2 only produces 2 visits. That's 5 visits more than you had starting the week.
Now repeat the process. Work on #1, and #2 again. Similar results...5 more visitors, but now you will also have 5 visitors from your previous week's work. That's 10 visit total this week.
The 3rd week is 15 visitors, 4th week 20 visitors. So at the end of 4 weeks you would have a total of 50 visitors to your squeeze page. I know this doesn't sound like much but listing building starts small and builds momentum week after week.
Stay the course. Spend the time, make the effort and you will see your list building effort produce results. There are many different ways to build your list. To find other ways or to get some inspiration and motivation look for free ebooks and free reports on list building.
