One of the many things to do while visiting San Marcos is go to Wonder World Park.  This is quite a unique attraction that will entertain the entire family.  Here, you will get a tour of the only earthquake formed cave in the United States.  You can learn all about how earthquakes caused this natural cave to form and see it first hand from the inside out.  Don’t forget to take a trip up to the Tejas Observation Tower to see the awesome view of the Balcones Fault Line.  It is something that is definitely worth the climb.  While visiting the park you can also enjoy a train ride out to a petting zoo that is sure to be a hit with the kids as it will allow them to get up close and personal with some of the native wildlife of Texas.  And don’t forget to stop at the Anti-gravity House where things are not always as they seem.

If shopping is more your speed, then San Marcos is definitely the place to visit.  You can enjoy the more unique stores shopping downtown San Marcos.  Here, you will be able to find a Texas size souvenir to take home with you.  If you are more interested in outlets, then San Marcos has the place for you.  The largest outlet mall in Texas finds its home in San Marcos. With over 200 name brand stores, you are bound to find something for everyone on your list.

If the outdoors is more your thing, then San Marcos has a lot to offer you as well.  Located along the San Marcos River the Guadalupe River and the Blanco River, there are plenty of water fun activities to participate in.  The most popular water activity in Texas is Tubing along the San Marcos River.  It is a great way to enjoy a relaxing afternoon and proceeds from you raft rental goes to help out charity.  So go have fun and help someone too.  Another place to enjoy the water in San Marcos is at the Aquarena Center.  Here, you can visit this natural spring.  Take a ride of a glass bottom boat, visit the aquarium, take a walk along the wetlands boardwalk over the water, or if diving is your thing, you can do it here.  It is a wonderful place to learn about a unique environment and its role in the habitat of the area.

No matter what your interests are, San Marcos is a place worth the visit while in Texas.  With a history older than the state of Texas itself, San Marcos is one of the most popular spots to visit while in the Texas Hill Country.   Located smack dab between Austin and San Antonio, it is an easy day trip that will give you memories that will last a lifetime.  Make it a stop on your next trip to the Hill Country.
