[S530]Ski Holiday Val Thorens
by Roger Munns, Rog
The 2006-2007 ski market saw a small three percent increase despite challenging snow conditions and fuel prices.

Tourism today is often about pampering, and a holiday is just the way to do it for most people.

Die-hard skiers are not going to let the possibility of poor snowfall or fuel prices stand in the way of a ski holiday. They know their favourite resorts will have things taken care of. On the other hand, people who have been dreaming of a ski holiday for years aren't going to let poor conditions stop them either. People, in general, will do what they want, no matter what the conditions.

Specialist ski holiday companies know this to be true. They aren't worried about losing business. They know how to take care of their customers. They see a lot of repeat visitors year after year. The 2006-2007 ski-season suffered from low snowfall and high fuel costs. High-elevation resorts had no problems with low snowfall.

France continues to be the most popular ski holiday getaway with just over 37% of British skiers enjoying chalet and club hotel holidays. Two contributing factors also aided France's popularity in the 2006-2007 ski season: the first being a difficult start to the season because of a late-starting winter yielding low snowfall to start; the second factor being a late Easter. Many skiers enjoy taking a lengthy ski holiday during Easter break. France and next door neighbour, the tiny country of Andorra, is home to some of the higher-altitude ski resorts, so they have more snow earlier and later in the season.

Many ski companies are prepared to face weather challenges head-on by helping in the fight against global warming. During the 2006-2007 ski season, one British ski holiday company was the first major operator to offer their customers the opportunity to participate in a programme to offset the carbon emissions created by their flights. They signed on to the "carbon neutral" scheme with The CarbonNeutral Company. CarbonNeutral makes investments globally in projects like solar, hydro and wind farms in a massive effort to cut back on greenhouse gases. Many skiers are more than happy to join in with donations and support for the cause.

Many of the greatest ski destinations are prepared for no snow by making it themselves early in the season. This will give natural snow a great blanket to stick to. Resorts in these areas are generally booked months in advance and don't let things like negative predictions hold them back from having a great ski season.

No worries, ski enthusiasts! Your favourite ski destinations will welcome you for a late holiday to show you what fun a ski holiday can be.

Ski vacations are a growing segment of the travel and vacation industry and they are getting more and more popular each year. For many, skiing is a time honored tradition, and an activity that many people around the world look forward to each year.

Even if you have never been on the slopes before, you can enjoy ski holidays. Whether you are traveling alone or traveling with the entire family, you will have fun racing down the slopes.

Switzerland: Where You Can Enjoy The Ski Holiday Of A Lifetime

Switzerland is one of the most popular places for travelers from around the world. Curling up in front of a warm fire in one of many cozy ski lodges, is a welcome treat after a long day of skiing down the magnificent Alps. Consider Spending Your Ski Holidays In Japan

In case you did not know it, Japan is quickly becoming one of the world's most popular ski vacation destinations, and with good reason. Japan can be proud of its slopes which rival those of the very popular Swiss Alps. And as for Japanese hospitality, it simple cannot be beat. We wholeheartedly recommend Japan to anyone who is planning on taking a ski holiday this, or any, year for that matter. Imagine spending your days on the slopes of semi-private resorts; and your evenings staying warm in private apartments filled with the scent of fresh snow. That's exactly what awaits in Japan.

Colorado Offers Popular Ski Holidays Closer to Home

Colorado has a lot to offer. It provides endless inspirations to both beginners and advanced skiers alike. Every day there is a layer of fresh powder to enjoy.

Regardless of where you choose to go on your ski holiday, if you plan and prepare well, you are bound to be in for a treat. Being prepared includes taking plenty of warm clothing to keep you warm while on the slopes.

A Ski Holiday Is Family Time Well Spent

There are few better ways to spend valuable time with your family during the winter than enjoying a family ski holiday. Most ski resorts offer something for everyone. From lessons for children as young as three years old; to lessons for adults who have never skied before. Within no time, you feel "at home" on the slopes, and be making memories that will last a lifetime.

Do you enjoy the winter? Then a ski holiday is a wonderful treat you. If you have fresh air, and you are surrounded by friendly faces in a comfortable ski resort, the only question left to ask is: what are you waiting for?
