1. Study and carefully plan what you are going to play. Understand the context to play however it fits to the tune. You should always try to identify the chord being played and the key to be used.

3. Never consume any alcohol when you are playing guitar. Alcohol will make you sound badly and look bad. Some may think that they perform best under the influence of alcohol but till date, no one have ever succeeded in playing guitar under alcohol.

5. New strings are needed when your guitar strings are old and rusty. If the guitar is still out of tune with brand new strings get the intonation adjusted.

6. You have to be real careful to stay tuned up in the right way. If you are out of tune, it would be embarrassing for you. An electronic tuner can be found easily at most electric shops at affordable prices.

7. Allow the song to rule over the play. Some guitarists think too highly of themselves and try to over do. The sound of the guitar will be projected affecting the show.

8. Play the guitar within your standard. Different people have different styles and talents. The length of the fingers, the strength of your fingers and the flexibility will vary. Don't try to play like someone who is playing better than you; you are doing one of the worst possible things
