Its very simple. Movies. Wonderful movies. New releases. Movies that would cost you four dollars at any other video store to rent, for a simple $1.00 charge on your credit card. This is very legitimate and very true. The Red Box is a phenomenonal stroke of convenience.
It doesnt matter what time of day you rent. That convenient little Red Box is open, day and night, 24 hours a day. However, it doesnt matter what time you rent, you have until 9:00 pm the next night to watch and return any movie you get. In true Cinderella fashion, at the stroke of 9:00 pm, if your movie hasnt been returned, the magical box simply charges your credit card for another day. The movie is returnable as fast as it is rentable. You simply hit the button on the screen that says return a movie and slide it back inside the appropriate slot. I have been to the local Red Box many times and never had a problem. It is all automated, computer generated. Perfect.
So lets see. What are the negatives?
1. Not as big of a selection, even though you get most of the new releases every Tuesday, just like you would if you went to a video store. They obviously dont have as big of a selection as a regular movie store (they are in a box, like a pop machine, go figure). However, you might find yourself a very cool Indy flick that you settle for because commercialism doesnt cloud your judgment.
2. Line, Line oh baby !! A big Line. More times than not there are at least 3 people in line at the Red Box at Albertsons on 12th and Greenhurst. Always plan on giving yourself at least 15 minutes if you plan on turning a movie in before 9:00. I have exhibited random acts of kindness,(i.e. hey you just have to turn a movie in, go ahead in front of me...) It doesnt always happen though so just remember to get there at least 15 minutes in advance to turn your movie in, or at the magical stroke of 9:00 pm, your credit card is getting charged another dollar.
Other than that, I really have nothing bad to say about my friend, The Red Box. Its inexpensive, innovative and safe. Ive used it at least ten times, and i havent found myself in one of those free credit report.com commercial scenarios. They are also strategically placed around Nampa for your vending convenience.
Outdoor Red Boxes are located at:
Albertsons on 12th @ Greenhurst
McDonalds on 12th Avenue Road across from Nampa High School
McDonalds on Caldwell Boulevard by Fred Meyer.
Oh ya, one more cool feature. I am pretty sure you can return these videos to multiple Red Box Locations.
I have found two indoor dvd rentals, the Albertsons on 7th Street, and Fred Meyer has some other brand that isnt Red Box, but Im pretty sure its still only a dollar as well.
Because getting a movie for a dollar isnt enough. You need to get a movie for FREE! Check out this website and feel free to try these codes to see if you can get your Red Box movie for free! http://www.insideredbox.com/codes/
Other than that, I really cant think of any negatives. These portable dvd rental machines are really revolutionary.
