For the purpose of architecture, transparent part of a wall is called glazing. Glazing is usually made of glass or plastic (which could be acrylic or polycarbonate). Common glazing materials used for architectural applications include tinted float glass, tempered glass, laminated glass and a variety of coated glass. These glasses could be glazed singly or double or even triple glazing units. Ordinary clear glass has a slight greenish tinge but there are some special glasses offered by some of the manufacturers, which are absolutely clear.

Glazing could be mounted in a window sash or door stile, which are usually made of wood, aluminum or PVC. Toughened and laminated glass can be glazed by bolting panes directly to a metal framework by bolts passing through drilled holes.

Curtain walling is one of the specialized applications of . It is a type of fa?ade of a building that is quite common in commercial and office building. A curtain wall does not carry any dead load from the building except its own weight. This means that a curtain wall does not carry any roof or floor load. Instead, it transfers its main load to the building through connection with the building at different floors or columns. The wind load on curtain walling is also transferred to the building in a similar way. A curtain wall would appear like a covering of the front of a building that appears like curtain that is made of glass and aluminum.

The curtain wailing technique started developing in 1930s. After World War II, this became quite common in commercial and office building because of easier availability of aluminum for civilian use. Custom walls could be made as per manufacturer's standard catalog or could be made as per the customer's specifications. The use of curtain walls in commercial building construction has been found quite economical, compared to standard system that was used earlier. This is because of the reason that curtain walls provide more wall area. Use of aluminum in curtain walls has become the standard because of its excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Aluminum also weathers wells partly because it gets oxidized naturally when exposed to air, thus creating an extra barrier of protection against weather. Moreover, aluminum is less brittle compared to heavier metals like steel and is quite pliable so as to be moulded and bent into unique and customized configuration.

There are lots of companies that are offering industrial glazing services. These companies could be located in industrial directories, yellow pages or the Internet. By negotiating with a number of these companies, it would be possible to obtain the most cost effective industrial glazing service.
