[S1212]Symptoms Of Candida Overgrowth
by Jennifer King, Jen
Yeast infections symptoms can vary from person to person, and there are quite a few of them. A yeast infections symptoms are caused by the Candida Albicans yeast that has mutated into a fungus. Candida lives naturally in all of us, but for some people the yeast gets out of control, and then it mutates and start causing symptoms.
A yeast overgrowth can happen for several reasons but one of the major reasons is antibiotics use. Antibiotics upset the body's natural bacterial balance, and destroy the body's natural ability to fight off infections. This means the Candia Albicans yeast easily mutates into a fungus.
Children as well as adults can be infected with yeast overgrowth. When a child has a yeast infection it is usually an organism imbalance in that a natural occurring organism that keeps yeast in check is missing.
Another form of yeast overgrowth is thrush which is an infection of the mouth. White spots and patches are usually a sign of oral thrush, and it can be quite painful. Poor oral hygiene and poorly fitted dentures are the biggest causes of oral thrush.
The most common area of the body that a yeast infection will appear is the vagina. A hormonal balance is a cause of yeast infections in women as well as antibiotics use. Hormonal imbalances can be caused by periods, birth control drugs, menopause and pregnancy.
The major symptom of a yeast infection is chronic with itching which last for an extended period of time, soreness, sensitivity and discomfort. Females may have a white colored discharge that looks a lot like cottage cheese. Men can have similar symptoms as well on their penis.
It is important to remember that there are many different types of infections that share similar symptoms to yeast infection. You could have a much more serious disease like a STD and should seek treatment from a physician right away.A doctor's diagnosis could help you treat another infection that would have gotten worse if it wasn't spotted in time.

Chronic vaginal yeast infections are now an irritating problem for 5% of women. The reason for the popularity in recurrent vaginal Candida overgrowth is the fact that these women don't know the cause of their infection. Once you discover the cause of your infection you will be putting an end to your misery in a short amount of time.

If you've been using the same OTC anti fungal cream in an attempt to cure your infection then the cream you are using has become part of your problem.

Resistant vaginal yeast infections

A yeast infection that is resistant to your treatment will become chronic due to the fact that the cream has now caused the yeast to mutate into a super yeast that OTC treatments can no longer cure. When the yeast mutates it turns into an aggressive fungus that feeds on the inside of your vagina. This fungus will easily adapt to its surroundings so it becomes better at surviving, and it easily adapts to the OTC anti fungal treatment that it's continually exposed to.

Antibiotics use

Antibiotics use is the biggest cause of chronic vaginal yeast infections. When you use antibiotics for another infection like a urinary tract infection they kill your friendly bacteria as well as the E coli that is causing the UTI. When your friendly bacteria has been wiped out the Candida Albicans yeast that lives harmlessly in your vagina, on your skin and in your digestive tract is allowed to mutate into a fungus because it has nothing keeping it under control.

Health Conditions

Underlying health conditions can cause yeast infections. This is why it's important that you get seen by your doctor so any health problems that could be contributing to your chronic vaginal yeast infections can be ruled out. You may have a condition that is causing your immune system to become too weak to fight off infections on its own. This allows your body to be infected with anything, and not just the mutated Candida yeast.

Prescription medications

Other prescription drugs that cause yeast infections are the birth control pill and steroids. Both of these medicines play havoc with your hormone levels and your blood sugar levels. These fluctuations, especially the blood sugar levels give the yeast in your body food to feed on so they become stronger and multiply faster.

Once you know the cause of your recurrent vaginal yeast infections you can start curing yourself properly. This will usually start with an anti Candida diet that is accompanied by anti fungals and probiotics. If you're in doubt about what to do properly you can easily get expert help from someone who has professional knowledge of the Candida yeast.
