[S1180]Survivor Fiji Episode 1
by Groshan Fabiola, Gro
Kwan, a 52-year old architect, came from Ross, California. Born in Hong Kong on August 15, 1954, she studied at the University of California where she acquired her master's degree in architecture. Currently, she has her own architectural firm in San Francisco. Her most cherished project so far is her interior design of the Pacific Bell Park.

On the previous episode of the adventure-filled show entitled "Something Cruel Is About To Happen .Real Soon," Kwan was sent to exile by team Moto, a very unlucky start for the allegedly "bossy" architect as her fate on the very first episode also depicted the title. On the show's third episode called "This Isn't Survival. It's Thrival," she was, once again, sent to exile. She spent two stints on Exile Island, an unfortunate and frustrating experience for the self-proclaimed leader. With nearly nothing to see except for sea snakes, her time spent in isolation was a great disadvantage, which gravely aggravated the verdict of the tribal council.

After much resistance, tribe members decided to bring an end to Kwan's forceful authoritative behavior. Her eradication from the game, although stimulated by people's poor reception towards her, is significantly brought about by her unsatisfactory performance in the challenges, evident on her struggle on the slip and slide battle.

Although the possibility of Kwan becoming the "ultimate survivor" in Survivor: Fiji was a 50/50 chance, her reputation, as a domineering woman did not translate to much salvation. So, who's going to be voted off next?

Find out on the next episode of Survivor: Fiji which airs Thursdays 8:00 PM on CBS.

Survivor: Fiji actually had many strong players that brought their distinct strategy to the reality competition. Among the standouts were Yau-Man Chan, Michelle Yi, Cassandra Franklin, Earl Cole, and Dre "Dreamz" Herd just to name a few.

For Yau-Man Chan, his smartest move was opening the crate. In this incident, he assessed the configuration of the crate, intentionally dropping the crate on its weakest point. By doing so, he proved that brains could be more powerful than brawns.

Michelle Yi also had her share of smart moments. Despite being an underdog, she was able to bring fire to her team with the use of her eyeglasses, which made an impact on the rest of the team, as well as on host Jeff Probst. In addition, she proved that even with her petite frame, she was tough in every challenge.

Cassandra Franklin wasn't the most amiable for the fans of Survivor but she certainly stunned viewers when she won the reward challenge. As part of her strategy, she kept a low profile and claimed that she "listened to everyone"

in order to get better chances of winning the game. This was significantly advantageous in winning the challenge that centered on how well the contestants knew each other, in which she got all questions correct.

Another low-key player was Earl Cole. Obviously, his under-the-radar strategy enabled him to become the winner of Survivor.

Last but not the least, Dre "Dreamz" Herd's flip. Although he was considered as a backstabbing player, he strategically formed alliances while betraying them as well. Unfortunately, his flip did not earn him the support of the jury.
