Many times when we decide to remodel our bathroom or just give it a little boost in terms of decorating, it might be a little challenging because so many times we are trying to work in a little space. Many new bathrooms today are being made bigger and decorating is a little easier when there is more room to work with.

Many older bathrooms can be smaller bathrooms and it can make us feel limited in the things we can do. It really should not stifle our decorating inspirations just because the space might not be as large as we would like.

It can be a misconception that white is the best choice of color for walls in a small bathroom. Much of the time this will only leave a bathroom with a sterile or unfinished look. Although really dark colors on the walls might not be the best of choices, medium to lighter colors can work really well.

Color will do wonders to give a small bathroom more character, especially if our tub, toilet and sink are white. There are many magazines and websites that are totally dedicated to bathrooms and you can see a wide range of styles and popular colors to choose from.

When choosing a new wall color, consider what your floor looks like. If you have a floor surface that you are going to keep, like natural stone or tile, make sure your wall color will be one that will complement and blend well with the floor. Once your walls and flooring are in complimentary order, then you can move on to the more fun elements of decorating.

Do not be afraid to use more than one color in a small bathroom. As a matter of fact, choosing contrasting colors for things like towels, shower curtains, or rugs can make a small room look larger. The focal point will be on the colors and not necessarily the bathrooms size.

If you have the wall space, decorative shelves that may match your bathroom vanity, will lend a nice decorative touch when items are added to them like a few interesting books or some candles. Baskets or some other coordinating containers filled with prettily packaged toiletries are always a space conservative way to add a little elegance to a bathroom.

All of these things when done with color in mind will give you a bathroom that may be small in size, but it will be big in design
