An absorbent, well worked in, is often very effective on THICK MATERIALS and RUGS. Keep applying it and brushing it out, or vacuuming it out, until the oil has been absorbed. Or mix the absorbent to a paste with cleaning fluid, spread the paste on the stain and let it dry. After it has dried, brush or vacuum it off. This might have to be repeated a number of times. Absorbents will not harm any material, and solvents mixed with them and applied to GREASE STAINS rarely leave a ring.

SOLVENTS (see list). In addition to removing OIL and GREASE STAINS, solvents such as carbon tetrachloride will deal competently with a number of other trouble makers CHEWING GUM for instance.
