[S949]State Public Criminal Records
by Robert Boughner, Rob
An evenhanded delivery of information is maintained by State courts. This is done by collecting as much information available about all sides of a crime by their staff as well as from other law enforcement agencies. Yet the content of the records will not be fully disclosed in consideration of vulnerable participants privacy, like those in connection to juveniles, defendants, acquitted and witnesses.

Free sharing of information is expected of courts often. But state courts are also warranted to ask payment first before sharing information online. The good part is either ways, the state court accepts the right of public to discern the performance of the legal system. Among the criminal records that have been shared by the state courts include legal judgments handled by single and state services. The challenge here is how much the state court is willing to help the public or in helping more members of the community. It is quite obvious how the information they share online has been useful in security measures of the public, will the state court consider if not making their service charge free, at least be made more affordable?

Gathering details takes time. But details are gathered mostly by people who are running after time to prove or vindicate a case. Minimizing the search on both the state and county criminal records is advisable to get the big picture of a crime ASAP. 72-120 days at most, the information in a state court must be updated to its most accurate form. That is still a long time compared to the county service as a county court is nearer to most if not any possible crime scenes. Also the criminal records in a state court are collection of county records. Exact or erroneous, the information can be verified directly from the county court it originated from. If the county of the criminal or crime scene is known to the researcher, he might as well go directly to the nearest court of the suspect.
