[T576]The Longest Golf Driver
by Vinod Kumar, Vin
If I were to get the opportunity to write a golf driver tip for a magazine, I'd say something against the norm. Something teaching instructors wouldn't want to hear. Do you want to know what it is? It's not some quick fix, because they never work long-term. The ?only? thing that works long-term is working on you.

Your body has a current level of physical ability. I don't care how many balls you hit at the range; how many lessons you take; and what driver you're swinging. Hitting the ball further takes an increase in club head speed. Period. So hitting more balls or taking more lessons won't improve this.

The only thing that can improve club head speed is strengthening your core rotational strength and flexibility. Your core is the engine to your swing. A weak or inflexible core will not give you the results you are looking for.

The golf swing a turn back and a turn through. Isn't that about as simple as you can make it? If that's true, why wouldn't you improve your body's ability to rotate quicker and more powerfully? This is the ticket to longer drives!

There are many simple, yet effective core rotational exercises you can do in your home, or even office to greatly improve your club head speed and driving distance.

Do you want an easy one you can do right in your chair?

Cross your arms in front of your chest. Sit up tall and erect. With a fixed head position, rotate to the right and left slowly. See how far you can go. Do this without stopping. As you feel a loosening of the core, start to rotate faster and faster. Do this 20 or 30 times when you think about it and I guarantee you'll feel it.

Since time is such a valuable commodity, you've got to get creative. I've put together a complete section of my manual that covers simple's stretches and exercises you can do right in your chair in your office. You can't get more convenient than that.
I hope I didn't disappoint you with this golf driver tip.

The materials of golf drivers are most commonly made from steel, titanium, and composite. The three are very different and should be considered when you are looking for the right driver.

The steel driver is the least expensive. The steel is the heaviest driver. They are traditional looking and more metallic. The heads on a steel driver are smaller because they have steel weights as well. These drivers are reliable, solid, and durable. You can guarantee a consistent connection with the ball every time you need it.

Titanium is the best driver you can buy and the most expensive driver. That is because they are lightweight drivers with a large head on the end. This helps a golfer be able to increase the spot and gives you the ability to hit some excellent shots even if you are off center. The titanium driver is known for saving people from needing extra shots in a round of golf.

The composite driver combines titanium with non-metal materials. These are lightweight clubs that have a relatively smaller head on them. The driver's weight is centered near the face which is supposed to give the golfer a larger sweet spot. There is no sacrifice of distance with a composite driver and they are lightweight.

The head of a driver can make all of the difference in the world when it comes to the long shots you need to take. Traditionally, the head of the driver used to be made from wood. However, today they are constructed from other materials like titanium and composite. It is said that the drivers with the composite materials on the head are the best. However, you want to verify the size of the head and the angle of the clubface. The angle of the clubface with determine the loft you get when you hit the ball off the tee. The higher the angle, the more loft you get.

The shaft is another consideration when you are looking at golf drivers. Things you want to consider in the shaft include the length and the materials. If you want to be within the regulations of the USGA, you must have a driver between 40 and 48 inches. Strength is important for the shaft because you want to be sure it doesn't break when you swing. The materials of a shaft are usually made of graphite because it allows for a higher rate of speed in your swing. This allows for greater force and in return increases the length of your drive.

Finding the right driver is essential when you want to play golf. You need to think about the type of driver that is right for you. Weight should be considered along with the materials and more.
