[T578]The Love I Fear
by Pam Magnuson, Pam
We all learned about the power of emotions in Marketing 101, but it was a long time ago, and the edge dulls over time. Let's sharpen the edge again.

For thousands of years, emotions have been used as an effective way to stimulate people, and to control them. This is because, in general, humans are strongly motivated by their emotions.

The most talked-about emotions are the Seven Deadly Sins: Fear, Greed, Vanity, Lust, Envy, Pride, and Laziness!

Some other powerful emotions are Generosity, Curiosity, Love, Compassion, Regret, and the human need to "belong" or be part of a group.

Guilt is a heavily exploited emotion, recognized more than two millennia ago, for its effectiveness in motivating people to do what's wanted. Unfortunately, there are still a few companies, today, who use guilt to gain and retain customers.

Marketing and advertising people rely heavily on the use of emotions to sell their products. Politicians smother us with these emotions during campaigns. Parents use threats (Fear) and praise (Pride) to raise their children.

Bottom Line: Emotions sell, if you know how to use them correctly.

What's The Best Way to Use Emotions?

You do it by turning your features into benefits. Those benefits can be filled with the emotions you choose. Paint a word picture, supported by graphics that will appeal to the desires of the reader. Put in enough details that your prospect can visualize himself in the picture.

If you're a clothing manufacturer, talk about how meticulous you are in finding and using the best fabrics, the most up-to-date, flattering fashions, or the feathery softness of your silks, the unbeatable comfort and endurance of your cottons. Describe the stunning beauty your dresses bestow on the wearer. Paint pictures with the lively colors of the fabrics. Show them the cloud of downy softness that will surround their customers.

If you manufacture a unique ingredient, paint a word picture describing how your ingredient will transform your customer's product. Tell how it will give their product an irresistible flavor, or make it smooth and creamy, mouthwatering. Make the unique ingredient the one thing they can not do without.

If you are in the restaurant business you can paint a savory, mouth-watering picture in th mind of your reader by describing some of the aspects of creating a dish: "The Master Chef then gently adds a splash of fruity wine to the golden sauce, bringing a hint of summer days to delight your palate and tickle your senses." Or, "When our steaming dishes are placed before you, your eyes will be bathed in the eternally delightful combination of earth-brown mushrooms, golden garlic, and glowing green peppers, all of it caressing the mouth-watering, juicy sirloin nestled beneath.

Remember: Benefits support features. You can illustrate the benefits by painting word pictures with the features. When people can envision your product, and experience an emotional response to your message, the features magically transform into benefits!

Emotions Plus Repetition

Repetition locks your company into a buyer's memory. The real secret here is to combine the use of emotion with repetition.

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I knew that if a client could evoke the desired emotions to go with a desired behavior change, the awesome power of the subconscious mind would almost always guarantee success. Emotions, combined with repetition, helped people lose weight, give up smoking, recover from panic attacks, sleep better, and deal with chronic pain.

When you evoke an emotion, coupled with a repetitive idea, you sell more products. Emotions super-charge the subconscious mind, and drive it to achieve it's strong desire. Repetition locks the desire in memory.

Emotions, plus repetition, are an unbeatable combination.

Your customers will remember you, loyalty will grow, and your ROI will soar.

The two emotions from which all thought originates are love and fear. Actually it all comes down to love, because fear would not exist except as the polar opposite of love. Fear was created when God made this physical world so we could experience love. When I say that fear was created what I really mean is that the ?illusion of fear? was created along with the dualistic relative universe.

You can only know love by also knowing what love is not. We live in the world of the relative where what 'is' exists only by the virtue of its relationship to what 'is not'. Love exists by virtue of fear. The paradigm of oneness is based in love while the paradigm of separateness is based in fear.

The paradigm of oneness says that at our core is love. What we really are is love. If you are awake and aware of this then it only makes sense to live your life making love-based choices. That would be in alignment with who we really are and thus eliminate the stress, worry and frustration of choosing fear based thoughts and all of the baggage that comes along with them.

We need to look at these two concepts as pervasive when influencing the directions we choose on our life path.

If you choose the paradigm of separation, which is fear-based, you create a life that is permeated with fear-based choices, and you continually live out the consequences of your fear-based creations.

If you choose the paradigm of oneness, which is love-based, you create a life that is permeated with love-based choices, and you continually live out the consequences of your love-based creations.

Which world of consequences sounds better to you? You have experienced them both. You can detach yourself and observe them objectively to see what serves you and what does not serve you. You are the observer. Only you know what serves you best.

If you choose to live within the paradigm of oneness you take on the ideals of love, which brings you joy and leads to a life of truth. Love equals joy equals truth equals love. You can think of these as interchangeable in making life decisions.

Choosing to be joyful means your choices are love-based and since your very core is love, then the ultimate truth is love. So when you are confused and trying to make a life choice but need some guidance, you can always ask yourself before you make your choice ?what will serve me best??

What always serves you best is the truth and the ultimate truth is that you are love. Love brings you joy. What should you do? You should ask, ?What would love do now?? Love will speak the truth to you and bring you joy.

Remember to bring love, truth and joy to your own life first. Love yourself with a love-based love that comes from oneness. If you love yourself with the fear-based love that comes from the separation paradigm, you experience a self-serving ego oriented love that doesn't truly serve you and does not serve others.

Loving yourself within the paradigm of oneness allows you to fill yourself with joy. You in turn give this joy to others and they see the truth of your love. It is not so much a self-serving love as it is a soul-sharing love. A love that gives without expectation of return because it is given freely and unconditionally. As soon as you set conditions on your love, you are not sending true love.

This is especially true with yourself. Love yourself unconditionally. Start with yourself. It all begins with you. You need the experience of unconditional love in your life so that you can share that experience with others.

What better way to experience it than to give it to yourself? When you do so you remove the limiting labels you have placed upon yourself and give yourself the liberating freedom that comes from doing so. As your freedom expands, opportunities open up to you and you become aware that all things are possible. You aren't as limited as you always thought yourself to be.

Use this tool to wake yourself up. Don't get caught up in the ego. If you find that loving yourself first gives you an advantage over others, rethink what you are doing. Remember love-based love comes from a paradigm of oneness.

It is as simple and as complex as that.

True love creates joy. That is simple. Hold to this idea when the complexities come along. As you develop your truths, give thanks, and as your love brings you joy, give thanks again for the manifestation of your truths.
