[T187]Thank You Wedding Gifts
by Jerry Leung, Jer
Wedding gifts registering is followed as a custom in western weddings. It is simply registering the wedding gifts at a store or shop near you. It is a way to tell your guests implicitly about what you like to receive as wedding gifts. Who would not want their gifts to be cherished and used by the recipients after all?

Wedding gifts registry is also an idea to narrow down to one or two stores for purchase of wedding gifts, from their available list of items and then making your guests aware of the list. Practically, it avoids duplication to the max.

It's advisable to do wedding gifts registry at least for immediately needed items as soon as you pronounce the date of your wedding. See that you register them at maximum one or two stores near you.

However, if you have plans for an engagement dinner or an engagement shower it is advisable to register for the gifts well in advance. Also you need not go and register all of the gifts at one shot. Take time to think and decide and you may go twice or thrice to add/edit the gifts in the registry.

In US, Canada and UK there are many stores with the option of wedding gifts registry. You may opt for one or two stores close to your place and also the store that offers wide range of gift ideas to your wedding guests. Do not add too many stores and it might annoy your guests. Make sure you know and read the policies of the stores where you wanted to register. Some of them have exchange packages and some special prices for some items. Beware of all of them.

The date of registering is also important because if you register with some time for your wedding, it gives some time for your guests to pool up finances for buying the registered gift. They even get some time to buy gifts for pre-wedding formalities including rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, etc.

Add as many as you like to the list of wedding gifts registry because it only adds to the choice for your wedding guests. If not one they can go for another gift you wanted so there need not be a limit for registering as well as receiving gifts on your wedding! You may register all essential to formal ones; home appliances to bags, luggage items, bed linen, other furnishings, furniture, and informal show pieces, etc. Also remember not to register very costly gifts (If you cannot afford to gift costly gifts you have no right to ask for them either, right?)

Finally, never inform your wedding guests formally of the wedding gifts registry that you have made. It's better they come to know about it by word-of-mouth publicity through your very close circle of friends. And after your wedding as you un ravel the wrapped gifts, you are glad that all you ever wanted to buy as soon as you get married is there in front of your eyes and you can only indulge in enjoying you're your partner rather than planning.

Buying fancy dinner sets as a wedding present seems to be a common thing for people, as that would be the first thing a new couple would need (and want) for when settling down in their new house. Buying household equipments symbolise the start of sharing their life together and make the process of settling down together a little easier.

Shopping for dinner sets can often be a quick process. Many people prefer to buy simple designed sets, which currently is a popular trend. Back during the 1980's there are many people will remember their parents purchasing matching sets with gold rims and floral designs. Sometimes these would be brightly coloured with elaborate pictures. These days dishes tend to be of a neutral colour and design, with a more modern and chic look.

Imagine for a moment that you are holding a dinner party; you have your menu set and know exactly what to cook. However, you look in your cupboard and find that you have no fancy dishware or all of your dishes are faded and chipped. When holding a dinner party, it is obvious that the most important part of the evening is the host and perfect cuisine to accompany it. However, many have become aware of the cutlery and the dishes used to which the food will be served upon.

At a situation whereby you feel that it is necessary to invest in buying more dinner sets, the best answer is not to opt for the most expensive one that you see but for the more simple designs. When you are out shopping for dinner sets, you will find that many of the high street brands and retail outlets sell these as 24 or 12 pieces, which appear to be value for money. However, you must take into consideration on how fragile these pieces can be.

Plates and bowls do not have to be completely circular in shape. Many of these come rectangular, square and oval. Spoon can look more dipped of pearl shaped and knives and forks can come with elaborately designed handles. Soup bowls can come with a deep dip and glasses do not have to be completely clear, many can be frosted or tinted. Dark tinted wine glasses are also fashionable for parties and informal gatherings. Some prefer to use large rectangular dishes for appetizers and finger foods, these are much better for small gatherings.

Many of the cheaper dinner sets tends to be very brittle and often fade. When buying mugs and bowls, often you will find that they chip or become worn out very quickly, especially when washing up or placing them in a dishwasher. You should always look for hard and strong dishes that will withstand hard hot water and the impacts of using a dishwasher. They can become unpleasant to consume from when they do begin to chip and wear out.

When looking for sets specifically for special occasions, many will fall into the category of buying the more expensive designs or latest editions. This is fine as long as you purchase a guarantee with this and are sure to keep them stored safely. These dishes will need to be stored well; something many people will be familiar with! Often those that do buy special pieces will not use them unless they are specifically for special occasions. This is a good idea, to keep a set of dishes for everyday usage and a set specifically for special occasions, ensuring that the dishes last longer.
